Does John Schneider quietly checking on Shane Steichen’s availability makes too much sense.
Steichen is one of the better pure offensive minds in the league — ranked top-10 among play-callers by defensive coaches, elite at scripting openers, and he actually schemes the tight ends. Tyler Warren’s rookie year (76-817-4 on heavy targets) wasn’t an accident.
He did it with inconsistent QB play and still got production out of multiple signal-callers (Hurts breakout, Herbert rookie year, etc.).
Meanwhile Brian Fleury has a Super Bowl roster and is mostly just… existing.
AJ Barner is on the field a ton but is stuck around 13% target share with underwhelming numbers
JSN is carrying the offense while the rest of the skill guys feel under-schemed. Fleury gets the TEs some snaps and motion, but it looks more like “he’s on the field” than “this is a featured weapon.”
Steichen + this skill talent (JSN, Kupp, Barner, Darnold) would be a problem. Fleury is currently wasting it. Okay 12’s you know what to do drop your comment on who should be Seahawks next OC
