Often adopting @rjs's Shape Up is product/leadership led but it’s hugely beneficial for engineers - more focus time, more autonomy, better ownership and less context switching. It was great to talk on @ShapersBuilders from the perspective of an IC: shapersbuilders.transistor.f…

One of the things that I like most about working with Shape up is the sensations of the cycle start A new opportunity to try new things and launch new features.  All the projects of the last cycles were shipped or maybe not, but a new page is turned over and nothing gets carried on. A new horizon awaits, a new opportunity to redeem.

If you're part of a #product #development #team it's about time you give 📖 #ShapeUp a read. Written by the innovators behind @basecamp, the book gives teams the tools to address the risks and unknowns at each stage of the #productdevelopment process. feltpresence.com/

I had a great conversation with @davidarens A leader must always be building trust with the team. Whenever I want to implement a change in a process or in the organization, I introduce it as an experiment. Nothing will be written in stone. If the change isn't good for the team it can be reverted. The most important thing is that the team should not have fear of change, because change is inevitable.
In Episode 4 of the Shapers & Builders podcast, I speak with @juanivillarejo (CTO at Nulinga). Juan has previously been a co-host of the Shape Up Practitioners meetup with me. I pretty much owe it to his push that I started working on the podcast! 🙏 share.transistor.fm/s/c232a5…

This is what the end of a shaping session looks like. Three people were on a call for two hours. Note how messy it is. You had to be there to understand what it means. Next step is "packaging" this into a doc that readably captures what we learned, to carry forward to delivery.

Backlogs are a horrible way of managing product pipelines. They take effort to maintain and create a perpetual sense of failure. If you need a backlog to remember to build something - that thing is not important.
