If the trucks stopped rolling tomorrow, the shelves at your grocery store would start thinning out in a day or two. Your tap water would start running dry in two to four weeks, because the chemicals that make it safe to drink show up on a truck every week or two. Hold onto that second number. It's the one that makes all this 30-day talk make sense, and it's why the Pentagon is planning for 90. Here's what's actually going on. Dan Bongino told his podcast listeners Monday to get 30 days of food, water and batteries, and he said the warnings came from the UK. Britain's new Be Ready campaign, which launched October 22, really asks for 72 hours. That works out to 9 liters of water per person plus canned food, cash and a wind-up radio. The 90 is the Pentagon. Under a program called FORTRESS, every major military base in the lower 48 is supposed to be able to run on its own for at least 90 days, with its own power, fuel and water. Bongino brought it up himself. The Pentagon is building Fortress America, he said, so you build Fortress My House. So what's everyone preparing for? Nobody's naming a date. But Britain's defence secretary wrote that his country has a little over 1,000 days to be ready to fight, and the Pentagon's planners are working off the assumption that a big war takes out the civilian power grid and breaks global supply chains. That's where the trucking numbers come back in. The American Trucking Associations ran a version of this scenario years ago. The grocery store goes first because stores keep almost nothing in the back room. The water goes later because treatment plants only get chemical deliveries every 7 to 14 days. A 30-day stash basically gets your family past the point where the tap gets sketchy. Now do the water math. FEMA says plan on a gallon per person per day. A family of four for 30 days needs 120 gallons, which weighs about 1,000 pounds. Picture half a ton of water stacked in a one-bedroom apartment. The 90-day version the bases are planning for comes to a ton and a half. That's a big part of why governments keep asking for 72 hours. Britain reportedly held off on a campaign like this because officials worried it would scare people, and three days of supplies fits in a hall closet. Nobody's building your apartment a microgrid, so whatever cushion you want past 3 days, you're the one hauling it up the stairs.

My house is old and creaks and squeaks like crazy with every step. No hiding where you are for either an intruder or me. It's like those old samurai castles purpose built that way to detect ninjas.

please don’t listen to this. Two valid reasons: - you don’t wanna make noise and telling intruders where you are - most people when they wake up at 2 AM are not gonna have the cognitive function to remember that they have to rack their shotgun and will assume the gun is fully loaded.
If you need tactical advantage to handle an intruder, youre stupid. Someone breaks in and 9/10 times if you simply rack a fuckin shotgun theyll shit themselves trying to apologize and leave. And a responsible gun owner knows that NOT having to pull the trigger is the real flex.

Incredible video here by @4MRranch This closes the case for those who make the argument that Gen 2+ is not worth the money. Here NNVT Gen 2+ (the tubes we use) are put head to head against Gen 3 L3's at an equal FOM level. If you're interested, have a watch and see if you can see whether spending twice the money is worth it... Spoiler, it is not. youtu.be/cpTAhjcYrUs?is=I6_R…

you know what else I get for the price of that cleaning fee at a hotel? 24 hour service, access to as many towels as I need and a staff of people who understand they’re in the hospitality business. I love how you try to position @Airbnb as this little mom and pop operation when it’s really just trust funds and investment firms that have taken over the sector
Breaking news to all the AirBnB haters: You pay for the cleaning in the price of the room at a hotel. It’s not free. And to compare billion dollar businesses that have cleaning staff at scale to a mom and pop operator is ridiculous.

My take on DST: -End it permanently for everyone. -Maybe redraw southern Nevada into MST and Alabama into EST (even though neither would be geographically accurate. -Use artificial lights for golf -Let workers choose an 8-4 instead of a 9-5 schedule. It’s not that hard

Again, you can disagree with the Pope here and remain in a state of grace. The statement “there is no such thing as a holy war” is orthodox if it means that no war becomes morally righteous merely because a ruler invokes God's name or claims divine authorization. However, to say that war can never be morally justified, that Catholics may never fight for a just cause, or that the Church's traditional doctrine of just war is erroneous, would be misleading and incorrect.
NEW - Pope Leo XIV says "there is no such thing as a holy war," rejecting any religious justification for conflicts around the world: "Only peace is holy."

Consequence of decisions
Former NBA star Paul Pierce, who earned nearly $200 million in his career, says he is "drowning financially," according to TMZ. Pierce claims he can't pay his court-ordered payments since leaving Fox Sports. Here are his monthly expenses, according to the outlet: - $28,000 in child support. - $20,000 in spousal support. - $48,000 in monthly bills, which include childcare, groceries, eating out, utilities, clothes, and entertainment. Paul, who was reportedly making about $120,000 a month before he lost his job with Fox Sports, says his income has plummeted. His ex-wife wants him to pay another $40,000 in legal fees, TMZ reports.
