You need to grant emancipatory label to Gandhi's use of religion and particularly hinduism if you wanna stitck to this idea, which makes sharjeel's analysis of formation of Indian freedom movement moot.
Religion is not a thing with fixed properties. It is a terrain of struggle that different class forces attempt to mobilise for different projects. Whether a particular religious movement is emancipatory or reactionary depends on who is mobilising it, for what purpose, and in what material context. Religion must be analysed in relation to the material base of the society in which it operates

He has a point. To me the OpenAI announcement seems to be about mathematical physics. To most people "mathematical physics" and "theoretical physics" sound interchangeable but they are different disciplines. Theoretical physics is solidly part of physics. In this area, researchers develop either theories that explain observations already made, or they improve existing theories to make predictions for observations. (At least that's what they should be doing.) Mathematical physics on the other hand is usually part of the department of mathematics, not physics. It is concerned, loosely speaking, with cleaning up the mess that physicists have made of their theories of nature. Or in some cases studying the properties of theories that have nothing to do with nature. (Like physics in lower or higher dimensions, fields that don't exist in nature, etc.) People in these two disciplines work closely together of course. But mathematical physics is more maths than physics. I would not consider it part of the natural sciences as it is not itself concerned with describing nature. I don't know exactly what the OpenAI discovery is about, but it sounds like it is more in the area of mathematical physics rather than theoretical physics. I am not saying this makes it irrelevant, but as Andreas points out, it is of limited interest for applications. xitter.cf/karch_andreas/status/2…

Existence of Yang Mills? It’s just tying up a lose end for the hyper mathematically minded. I don’t think any physicist gives af. We have been doing precision calculations for decades. Of course it exists. But sure, would be nice to have a proof.

I am so excited for the future💫
OpenAI just dropped four huge results from its secret internal AI model. 1. Math: It solved the Kakeya conjecture in every dimension. Mathematicians had only cracked small pieces before (2D in 2019, 3D in 2025). 2. Computer science: It proved the Exponential Time Hypothesis is false. Hundreds of research papers assumed it was true. Some really hard problems might be solvable much faster than thought. 3. Physics: It proved the theory of the strong force (QCD)—the force holding atoms' insides together—actually works mathematically. Same for a unified version of the Standard Model. 4. Yang–Mills: Along the way, it proved Yang–Mills existence, part of a $1 million Millennium Prize problem. The math, computer science, and Yang–Mills proofs were all computer double-checked. Top experts are now reviewing everything, including the researchers who proposed the disproved hypothesis and a Nobel Prize winner. OpenAI says it doesn't want academic credit. The model still isn't public 👀

Wretched excuse of a human being defending a honor killing. Also, you, certainly, are aware of this.
Shame on you, Indian Express! She was a minor, under 18. At least a media house should get its reporting right. Any time a girl is under 18, her consent is legally irrelevant under POCSO. Even if she claims to have gone willingly, kidnapping and luring allegations must be examined under the applicable law. Even if she is married, if her family takes her to a hospital and doctors discover that she is pregnant, POCSO provisions may still apply. It is the doctor's legal duty to report suspected POCSO offences to the nearest police station. This is why Indian media ranks so poorly. At least get the basic facts right!

You go back 1000 years ago and Islamophobia wasn't a thing, but casteism in south asia was still rampant.

This is quite a humorous yet interesting 7-page paper by Neil Sinhababu, on the idea of possible worlds, he titles 'Possible Girls.' He argues that if Modal Realism is true, then I can have a relationship with a girl from a different possible world. (philpapers.org/archive/sinpg)

The average Hindu (like @jsaideepak Jo jaldi darr jaate)should not get scared of decentralisation of power as something Muslims will inherently monopolize. Sharjeel imam uses this trick of framing genuine issues of Indian polity as something for Muslims to appropriate as comeback

One ironic thing about the fascism discourse is how libertarians and some Marxists try to squeeze it into their familiar economic categories. One of the distinctive features of fascist ideologies was revulsion towards economic "materialism" in favor of nationalist/racial politics

Much here to think with👇🏾. And Sharjeel Imam is innocent & must be freed. At the same time, we must question the idea that South Asia is a conglomeration of exclusive religious 'communities' - quoting Aijaz Ahmad - and that democracy involves a negotiation ... 1/n
I write on Sharjeel Imam as a committed democrat who deserves a place in a radical democratic project of the future, one focused on the liberty and equality of all. telegraphindia.com/amp/opini…

This is a false argument. A religious supremacist project in power doesn't justify a rival one out of power. The only difference is who holds power. "Material conditions" explains who is oppressing whom today. It doesn't make the other supremacism any less supremacist. Give it power and it does the same or worst as history suggests. Two wrong never make a right.
Nope you cannot equate the religious identity of an oppressed minority with the supremacist ideology of dominant majority that weilds state power and muslims are being targeted because of their religious identity so them being religious is not a problem . Noone should be immune from criticism but criticism cannot be detached from material conditions
