There were two, distinct, campaigns running side by side. OEF was more kinetic, and primarily US (with support from the UK and a few others) and NATO ISAF, which was there to stabilise, train and assist, not execute seek and destroy. Many US pers never left the wire either.

Our charity exists to save lives at sea. Our mission is to save every one. Our lifesavers are compelled to help those in need without judgement of how they came to be in the water. They have done so since the RNLI was founded in 1824 and this will always be our ethos.

Sounds like a decision was made. Fine, it was never my decision to make.
A word of caution, though: When we let this slide we send a message to everyone from the T-6 drivers to the B-52 drivers that they can get away with it, too. And they will try.
When – not if – something goes wrong, the press & politicians on both sides are going to hang everyone in the chain of command. There will be no safe harbors or protectors. The public will want heads. I can already see the headlines & it reads just like the B-52 crash at Fairchild. It will be a scandal.
I don’t want the pilot to lose their wings, or even be kicked out of the military, but when there is no discipline, that sends a message.

This morning, UK forces boarded a Russian tanker in the English Channel that was secretly helping to bankroll Putin's war in Ukraine.
The first operation of its kind led by British forces, and a clear message: there is nowhere to hide.

Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

Artemis 2 was the furthest human voyage from Earth. Per the final JPL Horizons trajectory I estimate the max distance from the geocenter was 413145 km at 2304 UTC Apr 6 (about 4 km less and 1 min later than PAO's report at the time). But (1 / n ).....

On 13 April 2029, asteroid Apophis will pass closer to Earth than our own satellites, and be briefly visible to the naked eye. ☄️
@ESA's Ramses mission will fly alongside it, studying how Earth's gravity changes the asteroid in real time. 🛰️
