. @Top10Fresh In 2009 we put a scannable code on every item of produce we shipped. Scan it with your phone, you'd see the farm, how it was grown, who grew it. The iPhone had barely been out a year. Most people thought we were nuts.

Replying to @VP
@VP & @SecRollins announced $1.34B in total proposed investment to support 8 fertilizer manufacturing projects through USDA's Fertilizer Investment & Expansion for Long-Term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) Program.
This effort is expected to reduce foreign reliance, lower fertilizer costs, and expand U.S. capacity for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, & sulfur.
Big win for American farmers! 💪🇺🇸

More fertilizer MADE IN AMERICA. Lower costs for American farmers. 🇺🇸
Under @POTUS, @USDA has selected eight projects through our FIELDS program representing $1.34 BILLION in total investment to expand American fertilizer production.
âś… 22 manufacturing locations across 16 states.
âś… $73.1 MILLION recovered from failed Biden-era projects and redirected to domestic manufacturing.
âś… Nearly 40% more American potash production projected once projects are operational.
âś… Expanded supply expected to drive fertilizer prices DOWN.
Thank you to @VP for championing American fertilizer production and our farmers.
Less dependence on foreign suppliers. More production here at home. FARMERS FIRST.
News Flash: Farms aren’t closed again for Labor Day.
And that’s the way it always has been.
And that is the way it always will be.
This is not a political opinion.
Happy Labor Day.

🚨 NEW: @SecRollins announced USDA’s Data Modernization Plan at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. Bringing agricultural data collection into the 21st century.
Shaped by DIRECT feedback from producers, the plan will:
✅ Reduce duplicative reporting and red tape

✅ Improve acreage and yield estimates

✅ Modernize USDA technology and data systems

âś… Protect producer privacy and strengthen transparency
Farmers deserve timely, accurate data — and a USDA that respects their time.

BIG DAY AHEAD FOR AMERICAN FERTILIZER. 🇺🇸 Â
 Â
Headed to Louisiana, where we will break ground on two major projects bringing critical fertilizer production back to American soil. Â
 Â
More American investment. More American production. Lower costs and stronger supply chains for American farmers. Â
 Â
Stay tuned.

THE GREAT AMERICAN FERTILIZER COMEBACK IS UNDERWAY. 🇺🇸
Today in Louisiana, alongside @LAGovJeffLandry and @RepJuliaLetlow, we broke ground on two MAJOR projects that will bring fertilizer production back to American soil:
🔹 $3.7 BILLION Blue Point ammonia facility — expected to become the largest ammonia production facility in the world by nameplate capacity
🔹 $450 MILLION Project Eagle phosphate facility — the first new U.S. phosphate granulation plant since 1984, expected to increase domestic phosphate production by approximately 60%
🔹 2.7 MILLION metric tons of combined annual production
🔹 Thousands of American construction and manufacturing jobs
President Trump is cutting red tape, accelerating permitting, strengthening competition, and reducing our dependence on foreign suppliers.
We are reshoring American fertilizer production at TRUMP SPEED.

America’s farmers depend on fertilizer, and we are starting to make more of it right here at home. 🇺🇸
@CFIndustries' $3.7 billion “Blue Point One” facility will produce 1.4 million metric tons of ammonia, supporting roughly 6.7 million acres of corn production.
This remarkable facility means more American fertilizer, more American jobs, and a stronger supply chain right here at home.
We’re bringing fertilizer production BACK to America.

AMERICAN FERTILIZER IS COMING BACK. 🇺🇸 Â
 Â
Today in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, we broke ground on @CFIndustries’ $3.7 BILLION Blue Point project—a major step toward American fertilizer independence. Â
 Â
Once operational, the facility is expected to be the world’s largest ammonia plant by nameplate capacity, producing approximately 1.4 MILLION metric tons annually. That fertilizer will support 6.7 MILLION acres of American corn production—or roughly 1.2 BILLION bushels. Â
 Â
Construction is also expected to create 3,900 jobs over four years and more than 100 permanent jobs here in Louisiana. Â
 Â
After companies were told federal permitting could take years, the Trump Administration helped move this project through federal review in roughly 45 DAYS. Â
 Â
Thank you to @DepSecVaden, @RepJuliaLetlow, Assistant Secretary Adam Telle, Chris Bohn, and the entire @CFIndustries team for helping bring more fertilizer production, investment, and jobs back to America.

Finally a well-written article on this difficult topic.
Know your Farmer.
California lettuce was not implicated in a sprawling cyclospora outbreak that sickened thousands of people and made frequent headlines this summer.
But farmers in the state—who produce most of the country’s lettuce—are shouldering much of the economic pain as wary consumers ditch lettuce and other fresh produce. Last month, lettuce prices declined 16.4%, the largest month-over-month drop on record, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Meanwhile, market research firm NielsenIQ reported that from July 18 to Aug. 8, sales of iceberg lettuce fell 25.4% and prepacked salads dipped 34.2%.
Growers said they were left with little choice but to destroy about a third of their lettuce crops that were ready to harvest. “It’s been really bad,” said Ryan Kelly, vice president and general manager of Salinas-based Boutonnet Farms in Monterey County. Since mid-July, he said, the collapse in lettuce sales had erased the farm’s entire profit margin for the year.

🚨 FERTILIZER UPDATE 🚨
Following @POTUS’s temporary relief from countervailing duties on Moroccan phosphate fertilizer, OCP North America’s first shipment has arrived in America — approximately 54,000 metric tons, enough to support fertilizer application across more than 1 million acres.
This is immediate relief while we build the long-term solution.
America imports roughly 50% of the 20 million tons of fertilizer we use each year. That is why President Trump is lowering costs NOW while reshoring fertilizer production at Trump speed.
His action is expected to save farmers $1.8 BILLION annually.
But America cannot remain dependent on imports for critical farm inputs.
That’s why @USDA is working across the Trump Administration to cut red tape, advance permitting reform, strengthen competition, and expand American fertilizer production.
We are coordinating with @ENERGY on Energy Dominance Financing, working hand-in-hand with @Interior and @SecretaryBurgum to secure critical fertilizer inputs like phosphate and potash, and partnering with DOJ through a competition MOU to protect farmers from anti-competitive practices in agricultural input markets.
We are already seeing results. Through federal coordination, the Administration helped move the world’s largest ammonia plant by nameplate capacity through federal permitting review in roughly 45 days — after companies were told it could take years.
And @USDA is investing $500 MILLION through the FIELDS Program to expand American fertilizer production, storage, transportation, and infrastructure.
Relief today. American fertilizer production tomorrow. 🇺🇸

The data produced by hardworking American farmers belongs to them.
Our food systems are open to vulnerabilities the second this data ends up in the hands of foreign adversaries.
We are proud to partner in the trailblazing work of my friend and one of our greatest Governors – Jim Pillen. We will continue to partner with governors and state legislators to strengthen the resilience of our nation’s agriculture systems.
