A Royal College actually having to state only doctors should CCT is testament to how far standards are being utterly debased in UK healthcare
The @RCoANews response to the New GMC Order is out
1️⃣ CCTs only for doctors
2️⃣ Protect Anaesthetist & Anaesthesiologist titles
3️⃣ Separate doctor and PA/PAA registers
4️⃣ Agrees with Leng re name changes for PA/PAAs
5️⃣ Preserve the 5-year FtP rule
6️⃣ Protect reflective material

We won't need to worry about the fuel crisis. We can keep warm around the ladder being set on fire.
Let’s give a warm welcome to @danfurmedge in his new role as VP of Education and Training @RCPhysicians.

So seems IMGs have started getting training posts despite UKGP. Will we now stop with the racism and xenophobia claims or…?

What is your position on UKMG prioritisation? You agree with 5 years as significant experience?

I don't think it's easy, but this is what UK grads have had to battle with for competitive specialities like surgery for years already.
It's inconvenient but as I said I'm not sure what other options there are to reasonably give UK grads a fighting chance given circumstances.

UK Grad priority has been handled poorly
But where were you 5yrs ago?
Cowering in fear of being called racist, or actively involved in calling others racist for bringing it up?
IMGs suffer today because our silence yesterday prevented a sensible & fair solution being discussed

UK Graduate Prioritisation ✅
I co-authored the policy against fierce opposition from international associations, the current BMA UK Council, and industry bodies who spared no expense trying to stop us.
We won. It's now law.

Hi. Like the others on the list I firmly support a min 5 yrs as reqd NHS exp for prioritisation of applicants to training schemes.
Given the overwhelming nos of applicants, disparity b/w medical school & dr training places, we can't expect to make an impact with anything less.

I went as a non-voting member last year, to enable more doctors from Wales to engage.
I've worked in both Oz and NZ as a trainee, but neither post was a teaching program post. I would have needed to remain for several years to get anywhere near competitive, to lose my UK status.

UK graduate prioritisation is a common sense policy.
As the data shows, the bar should be set to 5 years of NHS experience if competition ratios are to remain stable and then to come down.
2 years of NHS experience is not an effective policy.

That UK graduates should be prioritised for training posts. I spoke for the motion last session & voted in favour when we originally pushed policy through the BMA. What we advocate for now needs to be data driven and considered to ensure that it solves the issue it is seeking to.

Hi there, I am firmly pro-UK graduate prioritisation. As someone who recently entered training, I have first-hand experience of the anxieties of the bottlenecks. The social contract with is broken and needs repairing.

I don't have skin in the game as a consultant. I have lived-in experience of looking at Orthopaedic training when out in NZ in 1999 before returning to UK as a Brit with better prospects in UK. I competed for SpR rotation, which I got into by 2002. Different landscape.Needs care.
