SPJ is pleased a federal judge blocked proposed visa changes that would restrict foreign journalists. SPJ previously helped organize 30+ journalism groups to pressure Congress to stop the rule, which would limit I visa holders to 240 days in the U.S. ➡️ bit.ly/4yFJLvO

Months after billionaire David Hoffmann came to Lee Enterprises bearing a message of renewed investment in the chain, the company began laying off editors and copy editors at papers across the country. While the scale of the recent layoffs appears to be much smaller than past rounds of mass cuts, they still raise questions: poynter.org/business-work/20…

Heartbroken. 27 years. Exactly half my life working for my hometown paper, the one I read with my dad growing up. Dream job. Covering games, sharing stories of our local athletes, documenting history. Thankful for the great people I've met, many now friends. Grateful, hopeful.
BLADE ALERT: Block Communications has announced its intention to explore a sale of The Blade’s assets, which, if unsuccessful, will result in the final edition of the newspaper being published Dec. 31. toledoblade.com/local/city/2…

After being told we were fired for insubordination, my colleagues and I today filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Defense Department, Pete Hegseth, Sean Parnell and Andrew Brey seeking to protect our First Amendment rights. Everyone deserves the right to a free and independent press, especially our service members. This lawsuit is about safeguarding the mission of Stars and Stripes journalists so they can continue to do their jobs without fear or retaliation. washingtonpost.com/business/…
