Hedge funds are pulling back from AI at the fastest pace on record:
Hedge funds have moved underweight the broader AI trade for the first time since early 2023, according to Morgan Stanley data.
This comes as hedge funds have reduced their combined long and short exposure to global equities by -8% since June, marking the largest sustained period of position reduction on record.
Hedge funds cut exposure most heavily to Hyperscalers, Energy, Materials and Real Estate, with ~35%-40% of long/short hedge funds now delivering flat or negative returns year-to-date.
Meanwhile, 6-month correlations between S&P 500 stocks have fallen below 10%, marking a record low, and showing how independently individual stocks within the index move.
The market's growing disconnect was evident on Thursday, when the S&P 500 finished lower despite more than 80% of its constituents finishing higher, the first such session in nearly 40 years of data.
Hedge funds have cut exposure at a record pace, but more selling could still lie ahead.

BREAKING: The U.S. may have begun striking Iranian air-defense systems, as multiple explosions rock Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, amid heavy U.S. aerial activity across the Gulf. At least five KC-46A Pegasus tankers and one KC-135R have been spotted operating in the region, while air-defense activity is reported over Qeshm, according to Initial and local reports.
The developments come shortly after the IRGC announced it had captured two U.S. MQM-170 Outlaw drones intact using electronic warfare and shot down an MQ-9 Reaper east of the Strait of Hormuz, bringing its announced MQ-9 losses to 55 since the conflict began.

🇪🇸 BREAKING: MAJOR EXPLOSION AT SPANISH MUNITIONS FACTORY IN GRANADA
A powerful explosion has struck the Fábrica de Municiones de Granada in El Fargue, Spain.
Initial reports:
• At least three people injured, reportedly suffering hearing-related injuries.
• Explosion occurred around 09:00 local time.
• A large mushroom-shaped smoke cloud was visible across Granada.
• The blast was felt in surrounding communities.
• Police, firefighters and explosives specialists have responded.
The facility, owned by Czech defence group CSG, produces artillery ammunition, propellants and other military components.
According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in a restricted gunpowder-disposal area, possibly during a routine test.
The cause remains under investigation. There is currently no evidence establishing sabotage.

According to The Economist:
"It appears to have come from a small circle around the president, Mr Musk and Steve Witkoff, the special envoy to Russia. Reports suggest Mr Musk wanted to punish Ukraine for striking Russian refineries. One official says he contacted the White House only after imposing the restrictions."
If true, this suggests Elon Musk imposed the terminal-speed restrictions unilaterally, before notifying the White House.
Congress must urgently investigate whether Musk acted without government authorization. It is unacceptable for a private citizen to exercise unilateral control over a vital military capability. Starshield is a defense system, and decisions to restrict its operational capabilities should rest with the appropriate government authorities, not the CEO of a private contractor.
This should alarm everyone.

During the highly demanding tactical scenarios of the exercise, the Greek crew fully exploited the advanced capabilities of their vessel:
The Target: The "PIPINOS" managed to slip past specialized screening forces undetected and virtually lock onto the state-of-the-art British Astute-class nuclear-powered submarine, HMS Ambush (S-120), as well as capital ships acting as the flagship of the task group.
The Outcome: The Greek submarine successfully executed two simulated torpedo attacks and slipped away without ever being detected, stunning foreign military evaluators and demonstrating absolute stealth.
