84% of WV households receiving SNAP also include someone covered by Medicaid. This extensive overlap raises concerns that families being harmed by HR 1's SNAP changes will soon face another complicated reporting process to maintain access to health care. wvpolicy.org/more-than-four-…

It is important to note that losing benefits does not necessarily mean someone is no longer eligible. Eligible people often lose assistance because they miss a notice, encounter a tech problem, can't submit documents, or can't reach an eligibility worker before their case closes.

“It’s about ensuring that the resources provided reflect the responsibilities that we’re expected to fulfill… to ensure that we have a funding system that reflects what it actually costs to provide the education our students are entitled to receive under the Constitution."

It cannot be overstated how much red tape Republicans added to the process of getting Medicaid and SNAP. Millions of people who literally qualify for these programs are being kicked off them, despite qualifying, because of all the red tape Grassley voted to add to them.

"About 140 public schools have closed across the state since 2011. The West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy points to declining enrollment, the end of COVID relief funds, funds diverted to the Hope Scholarship and an outdated school funding formula as contributors."
In Mingo County, teachers helped one low-income student go on to become a first-generation college student. She wanted her son to attend the same school. But now that it's losing funds to the Hope Scholarship, she too will probably have to homeschool. mountainstatespotlight.org/2…

We used to have a federal survey that measured hunger in America, but the Trump administration stopped conducting the survey right after the bill that cut food assistance was passed.
We are seeing a hunger disaster unrolling before our eyes. Since the GOP passed the Big Beautiful Bill, 2 million kids have lost food assistance. These are by far the deepest SNAP cuts in history, and each month, we find out it’s worse than we thought. The worst is yet to come.

School closures are forcing some people into using the voucher when their first *choice* of a public school nearby is taken from them, in some cases when it isn’t their preference. That’s why all hope # growth isn’t necessarily proof of popularity or preference
