A story I will never forget:
I yelled at an old lady in the grocery store.
She was taking forever. Blocking the aisle. Counting pennies. I said: "Come on, some of us have jobs." She didn't say anything. Just kept counting. The cashier started crying.
She whispered: "That's my mom. She has Alzheimer's. Today is the one day a month we let her buy groceries by herself so she feels normal. She used to be a math teacher."
I felt my whole body go cold. I paid for her groceries. She looked at me and said:
"It's okay. My students used to get frustrated too. It means you still care." I sat in my car and cried for 20 minutes. Be kind. You never know who is fighting to feel normal for one more day. When was the last time you judged someone too fast?

It’s funny how people claim they ‘changed’ but their patterns stayed exactly the same

I won our company's sales award, but my boss sent her boyfriend on the prize trip.
Four days in Lisbon, a luxury hotel and dinner with the chief executive.
Rachel told me I had to stay behind to finish the quarter.
Jake from marketing would represent our team instead.
I asked whether he would also be receiving the trophy with my name on it.
