Look at how far God has brought me since my HIV announcement 35 years ago! It is truly because of His grace and mercy that I am still here and thriving. God never gave up on me, and I kept the faith. He has truly blessed me beyond measure with His unconditional love and kindness. With His guidance, He has continued to open doors I always knew were possible. I am thankful for all of the prayers from my family, friends, and fans throughout the years, and I am a living witness that thereโs nothing too hard for God.

This is a symptom of what ails sports in Kenya in general. Trust me, this same level of comprehension, knowledge and language is reflected in boardrooms when engaging sponsors and investors.
The problem runs much deeper than what we see on our screens. Even our own systems donโt believe in themselves. We have spent so long undermining the value of our own sports that we have normalised mediocrity, even in the rooms where decisions about the future of sport are made.
You cannot build a commercially competitive sports industry when the very people entrusted with selling it donโt believe in its value.
