When I am afflicted with a calamity, I praise Allah for it four times: I praise Him that it was not greater than it is, I praise Him for blessing me with patience through it, I praise Him for granting me the ability to say "Verily to Allah we belong and unto Him we shall return" in hope of the reward that is in it for me, and I praise Him for not making it in my religion.

Al-Durr al-Manthur fi al-Tafsir bi-al-Mathur 1 / 162

We have just a few seats open up on our Tafsir course!
We go through the whole Qur'an in three years. For details:

This verse shows us that getting a good night's rest before a big day is one of the blessings of Allah.
Shoutout to the Waqfah app!
It gets you to read an ayah every time you open a set number of apps. This is not an ad. Just something I benefitted from.

The one thing you see in Makkah and Madinah is the unity of the Ummah.
A brother from Egypt prayed next to us in Jummu'ah. We later met us at the airport, he remembered our names and randomly showed up with dinner for our whole family.
The kids received tonnes of treats. All through the world, the ummah is one.
Do not give a PENNY in 'tips' to the workers in Cairo airport. They are not allowed to take it and they can be very aggressive.
Taking your child to the Prophet's masjid means you will come back with a haul. Today's fajr haul:
- a lollipop
- Siip cheesy snack
- Chocolatos
- 2 riyals
- 50,000 Indonesian Rupiah
This is such an underrated point.
Ive had this conversation a lot lately.

Fiqh and ethics are different things. Something can be technically shari’ah compliant while simultaneously massively unethical.
The conflation of the two is a huge problem that will continue to exist as long as general Islamic education is neglected.
Palantir is deemed Shariah compliant by several globally recognised Shariah screening standards
Including AAOIFI.
The Shariah board at AAOIFI comprises the most experienced and renowned Scholars in the world
Either you accept Palantir is Shariah compliant or you stop using “the scholars approved it” as a defence for Islamic products.
Pick your lane.
"In the ʿUmrah and Ḥajj journey, consistent attention needs to be paid to the heart. Are your intentions clear? Are you yearning for the Almighty? Are you committing to being a loyal servant of His?"

The prohibitions of iḥrām keep the pilgrim away from grooming, perfumes and beautification. External beauty is not given the usual attention. The reason for this is we are required, in the iḥrām state to focus on internal purification and beauty. This is a time to enhance our intentions, moral compass, positive ambitions and establish a good link with God’s mercy. An occasion indeed to rid ourselves of greed, arrogance, hate and materialism. The internal state is far more important than the external."

"The garments of iḥrām are usually white. For men, they are unstitched. Simple, humble and modest garments. They are prompts of our kafn (shrouding). The iḥrām state is a powerful reminder of death. Leaving our families, occupations and properties, in simple clothing of iḥrām resemble the departure from family at the time of death."

"It is from the plot of the devil that he firstly does not wish for us to take the step of starting a positive action. Once he fails in doing that, he attempts to make us spoil the action we have commenced."
