Obesity rates are through the roof here in the US. Big shout out to those who are working hard to take care of themselves at every age. 💯

The gal who did my Dexa and VO2 yesterday said “people just believe you’re supposed to get old and frail with age so they don’t even try to combat it, and THAT’S the only reason they become old and frail.”

To the Americans: I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States. And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness: You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence. This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns. Success is equated with exploitation. Ambition is looked upon with contempt. This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom. But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated. This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet. And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America: Thank God for the United States. Thank God for the wisdom of its founders. Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man. Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners. Long may your admirable country dominate the world. Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states. May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning. Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill. Thank God for the USA. Happy 250th. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

I love the tech and think it's fascinating, but this point is spot on. Most of you aren't training anywhere close enough to where this data will make a difference. That's not a bad thing. Competitors need it. Not normals.
Ok, too many of you are relying on wearables to tell you how you feel and train that I’m about to rescind my endorsement. It’s data. Data that is often enough incorrect. Stop outsourcing your thinking.

The smarter women are, the more hostility they face. In the U.S. & China, the higher women’s IQs, the less they're liked—and the more they’re undermined by coworkers. Men pay no price for being bright. It's long past time to recognize female intellect as an asset, not a threat.

It’s such a paradox that we want to know what’s going to happen and yet if we did we’d be bored and wish to have the excitement of not knowing 😂 Why do we go on rollercoasters? Because it’s unpredictable even though we see the track! What we really want is to know it’s all going to work out ok, and *spoiler alert* it is all working out.

Muscle is not a social signal. It is a biological outcome. Skeletal muscle develops in response to resistance training, protein sufficiency, and recovery. It functions as a metabolic organ that regulates glucose and supports long term health. What appears as a physical trait is simply consistent behavior made visible.

New paper on the energetic stress marker GDF15 GDF15 is remarkably high in people whose mitochondria cannot flow energy properly - patients with mitochondrial diseases we see in the clinic have 2-10x higher GDF15 levels We report that GDF15 can be measured in human saliva 🧵

The mind has a remarkable ability to pattern energy in the body. Psychological states can change blood glucose, alter gene expression in your immune cells, and even increase muscle strength substantially without exercise. I’m excited to be writing about the vestigial and misleading mind-body duality and how to overcome it in ENERGY 📕
Mentally imagining muscle contractions increased strength by 35% without physical exercise.
