Patrick Stewart was once filmed dancing and singing on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D in 1991 as a birthday surprise for Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Though never intended for public release, a copy of the clip eventually surfaced as a bonus feature on a DVD.
Rest in peace 🙏

Patrick Stewart gone. That’s horrible. That’s just hit me like a punch to the gut.
The uncontested custodian of my childhood first watching TNG, just sat cross legged on the floor absolutely marvelling at him.

my perspective on Patrick Stewart feels pretty impoverished by the fact that i’m not a Star Trek girl but he’s always been a presence i’ve really enjoyed on screen. rest in peace

Not a TNG guy but I've always loved First Contact and his breakdown halfway into the movie portrayed such a bubbling righteous fury and hurt pride that it permanently endeared me to both the man and the chatacter

I'm not too surprised because homeboy was almost 90 but damn

Sometimes you can spend years mentally preparing for an aging actor’s death, but when it comes it still hits harder than you expected. Christopher Lee was one of those, Sean Connery was one of those, and Patrick Stewart is definitely one of those too. RIP.

This is horrible. I will always appreciate how much he was willing to play the professor and showed a deep respect to the fandoms he contributed to. God speed good sir and may angels sing thee to thy rest.

Unbelievably sad news, we've lost one of the all-time greats.
My condolences go out to the family and friends of Sir Patrick Stewart.

Oh boy, maybe you should take the class. Because nowhere it’s saying, this is an unusually rigorous class or like that. It’s about students walking back to a humanity of course despite it being not a fluff class. Also, they’re not being a pass/fail goes against your point

Do you guys really not understand what you’re reading or do simplify the conversation and distort it just to argue? The class workload is more than that and detailed right in the article. The irony discussing a literature class and not comprehending the article.

Never take a class like this btw. The prof will fuck you over for no reason but to keep up their own (self) image as “the hardass.”
It’s the most brutal class at Harvard—and suddenly everyone wants in. No AI, no finance. It's a big dose of western civ and classics.
Great to see.

Last thought on the Harvard WSJ piece: I know many of you love congratulating yourselves for being Very Clever Boys, but one book a week isn’t the ideal way to study the great books. Sorry, you can’t teach the Iliad in a week!
