The Best Foursomes Pairings for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black
The Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black is shaping up to be a thrilling showdown, and optimizing foursomes pairings is key to maximizing team performance in the alternate-shot format. Using a model that estimates expected shots per hole—factoring in approach distances, around-the-green scenarios, and putting ranges—here’s a breakdown of the optimal pairings for Team USA and Team Europe, based on player skills and course-specific demands.
Key Course Insights
Bethpage Black is a balanced course, with odd and even holes offering similar challenges, but subtle differences matter. Odd holes reward driving distance more, with the Odd player hitting more long irons (200+ yards) and wedges (50-100 yards). The Even player faces more mid-iron shots (100-150 yards) and around-the-green scenarios. Pairing players with complementary skills—like a long hitter with a sharp wedge player—can yield a “compatibility boost,” though overall skill remains the primary driver of success.
Team USA Optimal Foursomes Pairings
1Scottie Scheffler (Odd) & J.J. Spaun (Even)
Average Skill: +2.34 | Compatibility Boost: +0.05 | Overall Rating: +2.39
Scheffler, the world’s top long-iron player and a strong driver, thrives on the Odd holes, where distance is rewarded. Pairing him with Spaun, who edges out Sam Burns due to better compatibility on the Evens, optimizes their alternate-shot performance. Burns’ distance is less effective on the Even tee shots, giving Spaun the slight edge.
2Bryson DeChambeau (Odd) & Russell Henley (Even)
Average Skill: +1.81 | Compatibility Boost: +0.15 | Overall Rating: +1.96
This duo is the most compatible pairing, driven by DeChambeau’s booming drives on the distance-friendly Odd holes. Henley, a shorter hitter but elite from 50-150 yards (95th percentile or better), benefits from taking fewer tee shots and focusing on wedge play. Their synergy is a standout.
3Xander Schauffele (Odd) & Lanto Griffin (Even)
Average Skill: +1.63 | Compatibility Boost: +0.03 | Overall Rating: +1.66
Schauffele and Griffin are among the top eight in overall skill, ensuring their spot in the lineup. While not highly complementary, Schauffele’s length makes him ideal for Odd holes. Their inclusion highlights that raw skill often trumps perfect pairing synergy.
4Cameron Young (Odd) & Patrick Cantlay (Even)
Average Skill: +1.59 | Compatibility Boost: +0.03 | Overall Rating: +1.62
Young’s length suits the Odd holes, while Cantlay’s mid-iron prowess aligns with the Even holes. However, Young’s weaker long-iron game is a slight drawback. Like Schauffele-Griffin, this pairing leans on individual talent over compatibility.

Holy f*ck. SpaceXAI founder Elon Musk:
"99% of people still use GrokBot like Google. They ask one question and close the tab
At SpaceXAI, over 80% of our engineers already run teams of 50+ GrokBot agents.
A Chief of Staff plans the day, PMs hand out the work, and the workers ship it overnight.
In 6-12 months GrokBot will be the #1 agentic tool in the world"
In this 36-minute session, Musk and SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell walk through turning a single GrokBot into a team that keeps working while you’re offline.
Musk's rule for keeping AI in check: never grade your own homework.
GrokBot → Chief of Staff → PMs → 50+ Workers → Autonomous Company
The Chief of Staff organizes the day, decides what matters, and assigns responsibilities.
PM agents break the work into smaller tasks and check the results before they're shipped. No agent grades its own homework.
Most people ask GrokBot for answers. Very few give it a team to manage.
Worth more than most $5,000 agentic engineering courses.
Save this and watch today.
Then use the guide below to set up your own GrokBot Chief of Staff ↓

ok... uh so I'm making a game... it's like if GTA & Apple Maps v1 had a baby
And that baby was a custom built engine that streams in OpenMapTiles (plus some other public domain mapping data) to render the entire earth as a playable open world game
Engine is all C++ with Metal (and Vulcan) renderer - which means this thing runs on ALL Apple platforms... yes even that one (ok not the watch... yet)
Right now it's just a sandbox world. No "game" - just layers and layers of systems. Earth scale procedural weather systems (rain, storms, clouds, wind, KpI, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc) which means you can see them coming from the distance and travel across the landscape in a timelapse. And every building has a procedurally generated interior.
There's also tons of vehicles, skateboarding (with skateparks), snowboarding (with ski resorts & lifts)
Also a photography mode with all sorts of fun goodies
The whole thing is a bit mad. Work's been insane right now and I wind down before bed by going through all of the work Claude has done that day, playtesting, writing up new project plans, and then kicking off the next day's projects across my 3 Macs in my house wirring on this all day with Opus 5.5 (maybe save that explainer for another crazy person Twitter screed)
Anyway, curious what you think. Now I can post my little updates here instead of blowing up all my group chats with the weird ideas I'm trying next.
Someone should put Jesus man in the new Tesla for a fun ai video !!! @bot

There will be a proper Victory Lap post for all of @sim_savant coming from the main account but this one is just for me. What a weekend of grinding.
If you're paying too much and getting too little from your tools, try us out at sim-savant.com for a week. Engage in the really robust conversation in our Discord. Try a different way to approach DFS.
Thank you, sincerely, to the hundreds of people who used us this weekend and set new records for users and lineup sets again.
