Paginated search has a quiet failure mode: results duplicate or vanish between pages because relevance scores drift across replicas. We fixed it with StableTfl, a new Lucene scoring function that computes relevance from the query and document alone. Read how it works: mongodb.social/6016BHrgwA

If your resume says “excellent communication skills,” prove it. Who did you communicate with? What was difficult? What needed to be translated? What decision depended on it? What changed after? Communication is not a vibe. It is a business function.

This made my day! The headlines focus on the scariest or most pointless ways people use AI, so most people never hear how it can quietly improve everyday life: landing an interview, learning more about yourself, getting healthier. Those are the things that actually make a huge impact over time. Sure, there are real concerns worth taking seriously. But it feels like everyone's stuck at the extremes, where AI is either ruining the world or it's a toy that creates more problems than it solves. They're completely missing the value in the middle ground, where it can raise your quality of life and the quality of life of the people around you. 💕
I have been extremely anti-AI but because of @iamKierraD ‘s influence, I have been using it to optimize my life. I had it customize my CV according to a job post & got a interview request I also use it to create management plans for my life. It’s helped me so much because I’m having a problem focusing

A piece of positive history that I didn’t know.
Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship yesterday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas during the 1960s. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes before purchasing without adhering to certain conditions. For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren't allowed to make returns once they purchased clothes and brought them home. These policies stemmed from the racist fear that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers. The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky restaurant frequented by Dallas elites. Neiman Marcus later welcomed Black shoppers without restrictions. These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would ruin his business — and indeed, some shoppers closed their accounts — but he stuck with his decision. At the time of the flagship's closure, the Main Street store had been open for 112 years.

Every time your phone tells you where you are, it is using a mathematical model of the shape of the Earth. A Black woman from rural Virginia spent decades building that model by hand, and almost nobody knew her name until she was in her eighties. Gladys West. She grew up in a sharecropping family in Dinwiddie County and understood early that the alternatives were the tobacco fields or the factory. She finished top of her high school class, which came with a scholarship, and took it. Her work was satellite geodesy: taking the raw data coming down from orbit and using it to compute, correction by correction, the true irregular shape of the Earth. Not a sphere. Not even a neat ellipsoid. A lumpy thing with gravitational highs and lows. That model is the foundation the Global Positioning System sits on. You cannot locate a point on a surface until you know precisely what the surface is. She did this for decades, largely unremarked, and retired in 1998. She was recognised in 2018, when her sorority mentioned her biography at a function and someone realised what was in it. The Air Force inducted her into its Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame. She earned a PhD in her seventies.

FYI: this means your children won’t have basic problem solving skills. Math helps you to learn how to reason/think

I have a serious question. Do you think you can fully understand a platform/tool/system without ever actually exploring a playground or dev environment. Like can you fully learn a technical tool with just a user manual?

Don't forget: You're allowed to use pauses during interviews. You don't need to answer every question right away like it's the lightning round. Sometimes you need to take a second, gather your thoughts for a bit, then hit the question strong.
