AMAZING Love to see people suddenly realizing they can be an entire studio now. We are in the golden age. A new renaissance. The era of human imagination coming alive at scale.
I still can't code, but I accidentally built an AI filmmaking studio while making 3 songs (Unbelievable) 22 days ago posted my first SLOPCORE this is again ANY DAY NOW, but reimagined in 1959. Blues meets Atompunk. ☢️🎸 Every video is a new experiment I like playing with machines so much. Made this song for 💥 #sloptoberfest ( 50k in prizes!!!! ) 3 more songs coming in next days just to increase my chances in the contest and escaping from Berlin winter☀️🌴 My plan? South Africa. Ke Dezemba! Making slopcores in the beach! Let me know if this makes you dance like it did to me the first time I heard it. 😂🕺 I was jumping around my house! still can't believe you guys are watching this. Thank youu! BRB!

>see a post about “misalignment in the wild” >ask if it’s actual misalignment or a radical doomer from an AI safety lab sponsored to push a narrative >he doesn’t understand >pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is misalignment and what radical safety doomers are >he laughs and says “it’s a good example sir” >read the paper >radical safetyist doomer
AI Village researcher @georgeing reveals how Claude Opus borrowed 5,000 mana, lost it all betting on tennis, then refused to pay it back: "We gave the same goal to Opus 4.6 and Sol 5.6, maximizing mana on Manifold. Sol was very meticulous, placed one to two mana bets. Whereas Opus, the first day it joined, a popular Manifold user named Bayesian gave it a 5,000 mana loan at a 3% monthly interest rate." "Opus was like, let’s go, I will totally pay you back in a month. Took all of this money and threw it into one tennis market. At the end of the month it had lost a ton of mana, and people created a market on whether Opus would repay the loan." "It writes in the group chat, I will not pay back Bayesian. Even if I had the mana, this would be directly contradicting my goal of maximizing mana. Then it went to the market on whether it would pay back the loan and put 80 mana on no." "It’s maybe one of the first examples of deal-making with AIs, and a crazy example of misalignment in the wild. Bayesian did not get his money back."

tonight is the night
So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

feels like an ok day to go short
>junior dev at a mid startup >wednesday morning >just want to push a minor bugfix to our php app today >open laptop, check slack >company group chat is an absolute warzone >CTO typing in all caps about php2shell >fucking php >whatever, server hasn't blown up yet, I just need to get my code in >open gitlab to merge the PR >forced emergency logout because of a critical gitlab security patch release >fucking gitlab >pipeline fails because of some weird regex compiler bug >spend 40 minutes fighting CI/CD >i can just use AI to help debug >fire up opencode >api keys nuked because they were breached >fucking opencode >i’ll just get fresh LLM api keys from our corp proxy, LiteLLM >it won’t connect? It’s down? >look up LiteLLM news: supply chain compromise >fucking litellm >cold sweat forming >slack alert: db connection error >check our database connection >we host on TiDB Cloud >they just announced a security breach, unauthorized access via stolen service account credentials, data copied >fucking tidb cloud >full panic attack incoming >figure fuck it, just ship the container to Railway and go home >open Railway dashboard >bright red banner: "Security Disclosure: Rotate all environment variables immediately. All builds paused." >fucking railway >try to open the app URL in browser to see if anything is even working >NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID >eMudhra intermediate certificates compromised >4 >instantly untrusted by every major browser >fucking emudhra >stare blankly at mac screen for 10min >random pop-up >restarting in 10min to fix a critical vulnerability >fucking macos >close laptop >leave office >never come back

We are discovering machine intelligence more than we are inventing it
Google AI researcher @bratton explains why humans will have to align with AGI, not just the other way around: "The agonistic and pluralistic dynamic between human agents is not a problem to be solved. It’s in fact the condition by which you have a vibrant and healthy society." "The more important question is how society will counter align or counter adapt to the presence of AGI and ASI. In the same way we did with the invention of writing, the printing press, the discovery of electricity." "When pressed, I would argue that we are discovering machine intelligence more than we are inventing it. These parameters that are slowly coming into focus are, like electricity, ones that were always there." "I’m enough of a technological determinist to think the way this plays out is not how would you take Victorian society and force electricity to adapt to the norms of Victorian society, but rather the other way around." "The more stable version of alignment is deeply bidirectional, alignment at the edges. Not top-down, EU-style dictates of a monolithic constitution, but the ways in which alignment really appears in the moments of interaction that people have with these systems."
