I propose we move from: “You’re not a true Christian if you vote for ________.” To: “You’re not a true Christian if you don’t follow the Sermon on the Mount.” It’s time we measured Christian faithfulness not by political allegiance but by allegiance to Jesus & his teachings.

I love the internet
That Mr. French has debated me twice is "pure fiction." Also, he has lifted humorlessness into an art form, bringing a level of dedication to it that is genuinely impressive. Sad!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Eric Metaxas and David French participated in two public debates in 2020 about whether Christians should vote for Donald Trump one at the Q Summit and another at John Brown University. youtube.com/watch?v=CuYk4-… thewayofimprovement.blog/2020/04/25/tra… christianpost.com/news/christian…

I believe pop culture fundamentalists are worse than religious fundamentalists. They suck all the joy out of entertainment.

Christians believe the most outlandish lies if spouted from their favorite politicians. They trust the pols and their news sites more than clergy.

Leaders who, for the sake of personal security, simply cater to the loudest voices, biggest givers, and most recognizable names abandon both integrity and the mission of the organization. Principled leadership is both courageous and costly.

Not calling anyone a Nazi, but this app is filled with those showing how. Christians were enthusiastically following Nazis in the 1930s. Power and privilege are seductive idols.

The utter disregard for human life, the void of any level of compassion, the false accusations & false categorization of these great people by this admin, the ignorance of the fact many have been here 16 years, paid taxes, worked hard etc is appalling. cnn.com/2026/06/28/politics/…

A better topic would be the growing biblical illiteracy among Southern Baptist seminary presidents.
On today’s edition of The Briefing, I discuss the growing biblical illiteracy of college students, and I answer questions about the conservative resurgence in the SBC, how Christians should understand voting rights, and more. youtu.be/J53TUXRiK7s?si=zkyn…

Anyone remember the TN Tax Revolt when lawmakers and citizens disrupted the General Assembly and won? No one lost committee assignments over that.

The best way to convince people you aren’t praying before a golden idol would be to not pray before a golden idol.
Today at Trump National Doral Miami, we witnessed an unforgettable moment with the dedication of the 22-foot statue honoring President Donald J. Trump. Let me be clear: this is not a golden calf. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone. This statue is a celebration of life. It is a symbol of resilience, freedom, patriotism, strength, and the will power to keep fighting for the future of America. It also stands as a reminder of the hand of God and His protection over President Trump’s life. Time and time again, when his life was threatened, God’s mercy prevailed. Today was not just a ribbon cutting. It was the public display of a powerful movement that has spread across America and around the world. I was deeply honored to serve as President Trump’s main point of contact throughout this process, and I do not take that assignment lightly. I want to personally thank Ash, Dustin Stockton, Brock Pierce, Hershey Friedman, Yaakov Filitchkin, Sam, Jack, and the 6,000+ Patriots who donated, believed, sacrificed, and made this historic moment possible. Thank you to the entire Trump Doral team for your incredible hospitality and excellence. And thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for calling me today and speaking to the crowd. We are forever grateful. God bless President Trump. God bless every Patriot. And God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸 #PresidentTrump #SpiritualDiplomats #TrumpDoral #TrumpStatueDedication #AmericaFirst #PatriotMovement #FaithFreedomPatriotism

Tennessee is actually one of the states where it's pretty straightforward to draw a "fair" map, partisanship-wise. One Dem seat in Memphis and one Dem seat in Nashville, all other seats are Safe R for a 7-2. Very little you can do outside of this that makes sense.

Irony from those who do the things
This. Is. Wild. My state senator Mark Pody wants us to believe his focus was making sure Wilson County only has 1 district b/c we’re too stupid to figure out 2. Meanwhile, he carved Davidson into 5 pieces and Shelby into 3. @TheTNHoller @yarbro @JRClemmons @tndp @VoteGloriaJ

My Easter hot take. Using the term Resurrection Sunday is Modernist, Fundamentalist arrogance of believing we are better than the historic Church. Of course, that impulse rejects much of historic Christian thought and misses the point of the entire Passion - including Easter.

Somebody should give Trump a copy of "Ozymandias." But he wouldn't read it. And even if he did read it, he wouldn't understand it. And even if he understood it, he would not "get" it. Now that I think about it, I don't suppose the younger generations have ever heard of it.
