“Caucuses - learn from them, study their writings, but do not get involved in them until you’ve been in the organization long enough to know what you’re doing. Don’t join DSA just to get involved in factional activity. DSA organizing is your first job. Study thoroughly every caucus’s line, and don’t apply to join one just because your friends are in it. Caucuses are a lot of work, you will be expected to do additional reading and study, and some even apply internal democratic centralism. If you are not ready for this, do not join a caucus. The caucus probably won’t even admit you unless you have DSA and leadership experience under your belt regardless. I do highly recommend that you join Springs of Revolution (which is a united front, not a caucus) for connections and help with building a left bloc. I also recommend that you cultivate comrades from all Left caucuses (MUG, Liberation, Red Star, Libertarian Socialist Caucus, Emerge) to, again, build your base of connections, get advice, and get keyed into important national work.”

A socialist just WON a seat on the South San Francisco school board! We led from the very first count last night. Working families in Area E of SSFUSD gave us 6 of every 10 votes counted so far!
Parents, educators and young people voted for smaller classes, real help for kids learning English, and safe schools for every family. No ICE in our classrooms without a judge’s warrant. A socialist program for our schools!
This is a historic win for the Peace and Freedom Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and independent socialism in the Bay Area. When working people got the chance to vote for socialist solutions in our schools, outside the two-party system, we took it.
We ran an openly socialist campaign. Dozens of Peace and Freedom Party volunteers, almost all of them young, built a serious field plan and carried it out. One of the first things Azov ever did was occupy Mariupol, murder civilians and set up a torture prison. That was back in 2014, over twelve years ago. By 2022 they had several black sites all over eastern Ukraine where they tortured "separatists" accused of being pro-Russian (and also for "regular" criminal purposes like extortion). Why is anyone surprised. Well, the last few years they're allowed to kidnap and torture everyone else, too, I guess.

The endorsement by Democrat Haley Stevens of Republican Mike Rogers over Democrat @AbdulElSayed exposes the true character of the Democratic Party.
It’s not only @HaleyforMI who has more in common with the Republican Party. The Democratic Party as a whole has very much a shared agenda with the Republican Party. Together, these parties are the two most powerful political institutions of global capitalism. Both parties represent the billionaires and multimillionaires and their profit extraction, mass exploitation, genocide, and imperialist war. Both parties are completely hostile to working-class, poor, and oppressed people.
DSA electeds like @DarializaforNY are peddling the illusion that there is any possibility that the Democratic Party would “[fight] for the things working class voters want.”
The Democratic Party is viciously opposed to working people. Under Presidents Clinton, Obama, and Biden, the Democratic Party refused to use their majorities in the House and Senate to do absolutely anything for the working class, whether an increase in the federal minimum wage, universal public healthcare, canceling student debt, or taxing the rich to fund our needs. Instead, among other rotten actions, they carried out financial deregulation to help the rich make a killing in profits and ravage the lives of tens of millions of working and poor people in the Great Recession, carried out a horrendous anti-immigrant agenda, invaded multiple nations and caused the deaths of millions of people, and led the active support for the genocide in Gaza.
“Democratic socialists” like Chevalier and "progressives" like El-Sayed do the dirty work of whitewashing the Democratic Party’s record, even including the worst Democrats like genocidal Kamala Harris and Hakeem Jeffries.
El-Sayed fully embraced Harris on the Michigan campaign trail. Chevalier has shamefully refused to pledge to vote against Jeffries for House Speaker, and instead appears to be greasing the wheels publicly for a potential yes vote by romanticizing Jeffries as the first Black speaker and "bringing the speakership to New York."
The working class cannot afford to fall for these lies again and urgently needs a party of our own.
Haley Stevens’ betrayal today shows us it’s not that progressive Democrats, or even democratic socialists, need their own party. It’s that politicians like Haley Stevens always had more in common with Republicans like Mike Rogers and Donald Trump than with the Democratic base. And now she admits it.
That’s why it’s so important to run democratic primaries. It’s not enough to send Democrats to Washington, we have to send Democrats who are fighting for the things working class voters want!
