If you really want to harm someone, convince them that they "have time." That is the worst advice.
Some people do end up having time, but that generally results from living like you didn't have time.
The person who is still vital at 55 was living urgently at 21.

throughout life you run into multiple buddies' fathers and grandfathers who all say: "I get more done by 10 am than most men do in an entire day"
unfortunately, these guys are 100% correct
buffett/munger frequently default to "if it's trite, it's right" -- applies for all this wisdom that I'd bucket as "grandfather wisdom" or "grandmother wisdom" (i.e. "it costs you nothing to be kind")
if u can get yourself to like a 8 pm to 4 am, or 7 pm to 3 am sleep schedule, your days just become less stressful to an insane degree
wake up, get a lift in, spend 1-2 hours attacking the most painful shit u have to do that day, maybe send a few dumb ass tweets like this one
but then after that, the rest of your day...you're always going to have random shit that comes at you but you're in a defensive bball stance rather than waking up at 7-8 am and immediately getting panic-smoked by 1000 emails and tasks
for a lot of circumstances this lifestyle isn't feasible, just file it away for later -- like if you're doing sales in NYC and you have dinners that begin at 8 pm every night, or you're going on 1000 dates, this shit wont work
although the grandfather wisdom is correct again: "nothing good happens after ___ PM." some say midnight, others 10 pm, I'd say 8 PM is accurate...ur never doing much thats healthy after 8
so once u get a life break, or u move, or u even get a random event (like daylight savings time next week) to shift ur body clock...thats when u can add a few changes.
i'll make a mix later this week, waking up early is a lot easier with house music and coffee a la teddy roosevelt: "strong enough to float a horseshoe."
Replying to @gregoryblotnick
Benjamin Franklin had a similar quote to this you probably heard: "Early to bed & early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise"

All employees come in 5 levels, choose wisely:
Level 1 - tells you there's a problem
Level 2 - tells you there's a problem and what caused it
Level 3 - tells you there's a problem, what caused it, and options to fix it
Level 4 - tells you there's a problem, what caused it, options to fix it, and which one they'd pick
Level 5 - tells you there was a problem, what caused it, how they fixed it, and future proof’d it

"Why does nobody run for the school board?"
"Why are the Rotary clubs empty?"
"Why does every town meeting feel like it's run by the same motley assortment of terrible people?"
Because the men who ought be doing so--the successful local men of prominence, typically businessmen and lawyers--came to the conclusion in the mid-20th century that participation in and leadership of civic life was someone else's job.
This is the desire of the so-called conservative to simply "work" rather than do all the other things that keep entropy at bay and ensure things function. Their doing so left open the field to the worst among us: spiteful malcontents
It wasn't always like this.
The planters of the Virginia gentry served as vestryman, justice, militia officer and burgess, usually before he turned thirty and usually for no pay, other than perhaps having some travel expenses covered as a burgess.
It was expected of him, and he expected it of himself: as a man whose success made him privileged, he was duty-bound to be the one to show up and lead
That habit can come back. It ought come back. It starts with showing up to the boring meeting, and being the sort of man to whom others listen. The sort of man whose reputation for success and competence, and cultivated but not overdone and always aesthetically pleasing look makes others want to follow him
This is what the great men we look back to did, and is indeed what their whole soceity was geared toward producing: great men who were great leaders at every level of civic life, from the humblest station at the bottom to the greatest at the top
Re-engaging in that way will be critical if we are to retake our country.

Guy Debord argued that modern life was increasingly being replaced by representations of itself. In 1994, he died by suicide. David Foster Wallace proposed sincerity as an escape from recursive irony. In 2008, he died by suicide. Mark Fisher wrote about the ghosts of futures that never arrived. In 2017, he died by suicide.
Now it is our turn to solve postmodernism.

I stole this discipline trick from the military.
My kids used to ignore me until I repeated myself 5 times.
Now they respond the first time. Every time.
Here's what changed:
I give the instruction once. Then I count to 3 in my head.
If they haven't moved by 3, immediate consequence. No warning. No negotiation.
They learned: Dad's words mean something.
Consistency beats volume.
