#Belastingplan2027 #TweedeKamer

There's a major state sponsored misinformation and smear campaign towards GrapheneOS in the Netherlands and Germany. The misinformation campaign includes unsubstantiated security claims not holding up to scrutiny to scare people away from it. They're also heavily misrepresenting who uses it overall. These smear campaigns conflate GrapheneOS with forks and modifications of it sold by shady companies. Those usually include a device management app to remotely manage the devices of their customers as if they're employees. These are largely not GrapheneOS devices or have preinstalled malware apps. A common tactic being used in these smear campaigns is to make unsubstantiated and outright false claims about the capabilities of forensic data extraction tools. They misrepresent how they get into devices. They want to scare people into using far less secure devices which are easier to exploit. France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands are becoming increasingly authoritarian surveillance states with an ongoing crackdown against privacy. It's happening throughout the whole EU and it's likely both secure devices and end-to-end encryption without backdoors are going to end up outlawed. There are a bunch of companies based in the EU selling phones with drastically worse privacy and security than an iPhone including Jolla, Volla, Murena and iodé. These products are effectively backdoored by not providing standard privacy and security patches/protections while misleading users. France and other EU countries are actively cracking down on legitimate privacy and security projects while supporting unsafe products within their control. These products make it far easier to remotely exploit devices and also to bypass encryption to extract data. They're phony privacy products. Each of the companies we've listed have participated in the misinformation and smear campaigns against GrapheneOS. Jolla spent years working closely with Putin's regime. Volla, Murena and iodé are building an EU Play Integrity API. None provides the crucial standard privacy patches/protections. Murena is directly assisting with state anti-privacy campaigns smearing highly private and secure devices as mainly benefiting criminals. They've repeatedly falsely claimed GrapheneOS is mainly used by criminals. Here are 2 of many examples: xitter.gq/GrapheneOS/status/2040… clubic.com/actualite-604786-… GrapheneOS, end-to-end encrypted messaging apps, Monero and other projects are being targeted with state and corporate propaganda and anti-privacy laws. Meanwhile, the same governments heavily fund and support phony privacy projects clearly downgrading privacy and security compared to an iPhone. GrapheneOS is only an initial target for these state actors and their sycophants in corporate news organizations. Apple heavily works on protecting users against exploits too. It would be much harder to convince the public that an iPhone is for criminals so they're starting with open source.
Gaël Duval is the founder and president of the /e/ foundation along with the CEO of Murena. Duval and his organizations have consistently taken a stance against protecting users from exploits. In this video, he once again claims protecting against exploits is for only useful pedophiles and spies. Translation to English: > There's the attack surface, on that front we're not security specialists here, so I couldn't answer you precisely, but from the discussions I've had, it seems that everything we do reduces attack surface. However, we don't have a "hardened security" approach, we aren't developing a phone for pedo(censored) so they can evade justice. So there aren't difficult things to check if the memory is corrupted, really hardened security stuff that could clearly be useful for executives, in the secret service, or whatever. That's not our goal, our goal is to start from an observation: today our personal data is constantly being plundered and that wouldn't be legal in real life with the mail or the telephone, we want to change that. So we are making you a product that changes that by default for anyone.

Read this thread. This is what the surveillance state enables. And there's no accountability. It's up to all of us to push back, no one is coming to save us.
I'm going to type out the timeline here w/ receipts for anyone who doesn't feel like watching my YouTube video on it. Aug 2025 - A Cobb County police officer used Flock to repeatedly search and track a vehicle belonging to a family member who was the caretaker of a child. 🧵

You can't remove every risk in crypto. You can stop being an easy target ↓ • Keep your seed phrase offline. Never type it into a website • Hardware wallet for long-term bags. Always check what you're approving • Burner wallet with a small balance for testing new apps • Bookmark official sites. A link from a familiar account isn't proof it's safe • Update your wallet, browser and devices from official sources only If something pushes you to act NOW, take a step back because scammers prey on urgency. Good habits will help you avoid a lot of mistakes.
No crypto wallet is 100% safe. No software is bug free. No tech is 100% secure. There are risks in everything you do. There are risks if you don't do anything. There will be issues, setbacks and problems to solve. Stay up-to-date. Manage risks. Solve problems.

Proof of Government
DEVELOPING: 🇬🇧 HMRC, the U.K.’s tax authority, is expanding its use of powers to recover unpaid taxes directly from bank accounts. Banks can be ordered to freeze and transfer the money. A lot of Brits are about to learn a painful lesson: the money in your bank is only yours until the system says otherwise.

JUST IN: Lynette Zang says, "If you hold an asset outside of the banking system, that gives you power." "The most important function of money is really to hold the value of your labor through time... You can't go back and work those hours again." "Having sound money as a foundation is critically important, no matter what else you do, because this has performed that function for thousands of years. Nothing else has. And it runs no counterparty risk. And that's key."

A few words given the recent exploits on hardware signing devices: • The Ledger supply chain attack represents one of the most sophisticated attacks thus far on the wallet ecosystem. In many ways it’s a lot more sophisticated than the Coldcard RNG exploit, because that one was software only. This one took a cross-border company buyout, tampering with the devices (implanting an eSIM, an LTE module and a CPU) and manufacturing the implants at scale. • These sorts of attacks have been predicted by early Bitcoiners, but in Bitcoin they remained theoretical or crude until this year. It shows that the level of sophistication of attacks has risen quickly, and what was previously “good enough” advice on wallets and self-custody is no longer sufficient. • When we started Nunchuk a few years ago, our premise was that multisig, and multi-vendor multisig, needs to become the standard for self-custody in the future. But even we didn’t expect how fast it would materialize. This is likely due to 2 factors: Bitcoin getting more mainstream, and the rise of AI-assisted attacks. This is a Sputnik moment for Bitcoin self-custody. The defenses need to level up. • Passphrases wouldn’t have helped in the Ledger case, since you are required to enter the passphrase into the device for it to sign any transactions. A compromised device that phones home the seed phrase can also easily phone home the passphrase the moment you enter it. • Similarly, generating the private key somewhere else (even by rolling dice) and subsequently importing it onto a tampered device wouldn’t save you here. The device can phone home the seed phrase the moment it’s imported. • Anti-tampering techniques might help, such as transparent casing or bricking the device if it’s tampered with. Or forever displaying a message once the seal is broken. Or using on-device encryption between the internal hardware components. But a dedicated and resourceful enough attacker can still find ways to get around these layers. Tampering and anti-tampering have long been a cat-and-mouse game. In 2008, card readers doctored right off a Chinese production line sent card data and PINs over mobile networks to Pakistan. The Ledger attack is the same playbook, 18 years later. The bigger the target, the more attackers spend on overcoming the defenses. • You should order directly from the vendors as much as possible, using a PO box for privacy. • Any setup that relies on a single hardware/software stack or a single vendor should be considered at risk. • Building your own hardware signers from generic parts is a good option for technical users. • Multi-vendor multisig should become the standard. Each signer should have a completely independent hardware/software stack from the other signers. The point is that there shouldn’t be any single-point-of-failure anywhere in your setup. • Many advanced protocols rely on timelocks and the recovery path being a simple singlesig. The recent attacks and exploits should highlight how dangerous this could be. Timelocks simply delay a risk. If a seed is compromised and there’s a timelock involved, the attacker just needs to wait out the timelock. (For Miniscript wallets, there’s the wallet descriptor too, but presumably it also gets sent to the device at some point.) Vault-like protocols face a similar problem: any withdrawal or recovery path that relies on a single key is a potential single point of failure. • For our on-chain timelock-assisted wallets, in a few weeks we are adding the option to customize the recovery path to be an M-of-N, so that, if you want, spending would require multiple keys at all points during the wallet’s lifetime.
Replying to @moo9000
Left to right: e-SIM, CPU with firmware able to recognize Ledger's font as shown on screen and capture words as they appear on screen, and a LTE module that can connect once the seed has been fully captured.

Stake your NIGHT. Spend your NIGHT. Both at once. MIP-0016 proposes liquid staking for Midnight: delegate to a block producer's pool and earn rewards, while your NIGHT stays in your wallet — spendable, generating DUST untouched. No lock-up. No new emission. Rewards come from the existing Reserve. Still a draft proposal, but this is what staking should have always looked like. #MidnightNetwork #NIGHT
