We got your back, New York!

Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

Patrick Stewart's entire body of work, but as Picard in particular, is something that connects the person I am today with who I was as a kid. It collapses time for me. I still have the same awe and fascination with his performance and belief that it represents the best of us.

NEW: New Yorkers have started a trend of tagging Mayor Zohran Mamdani to report problems around the city and the fixes are happening so quickly that the videos are going viral.
A dangerous playground hazard was repaired after a resident wrote a letter. A pothole was filled the same day it was posted online. And ahead of this week’s heat wave, the city installed temporary water fountains in Prospect Park.
The message from City Hall: no problem is too small to fix.

NYC vs USA right now is literally Ice Cream For Everyone vs Diarrhea Forever
Mamdani: In a win for every ice cream lover across New York City, we will work with the state to do away with the frozen dessert permit that requires restaurants to seek out a superfluous second permit for what they’re already doing: serving food.
No more treat-sploitation, as we say.
Right now, barbershops need three licenses to cut hair: one to be a barber, one to own the shop, and one from the city on top of both.
The state of affairs is frankly anti-fade, and we will not stand for it, which is why we will work with the state to streamline these licenses as well.
And to the bingo enthusiasts out there, for too long, the potential earnings of a hot streak at bingo have been capped by arcane rules that no longer reflect how the game is actually being played.
With OPEN, DCWP will remove unnecessary regulations, including prize limits.
These are just a few of the improvements we are proud to announce today as we make it clear we are in the pocket of Big Abuela.

For a socialist who once opined that New York would be better off without billionaires, Zohran Mamdani — the mayor of a city with more billionaires than any other city on the globe — sure doesn’t mind basking in the investment boom that is currently sweeping through Gotham. “What we’re seeing is multibillion-dollar investments in our city and a recommitment to the very neighborhoods that not that long ago we were told would never rise again,” Mamdani told political columnist Errol Louis during a sit-down at Gracie Mansion. “It is truly an incredible day for our city and all the announcements we’ve heard about companies committed to the city’s future.”
Less than a year ago, prominent New Yorkers were fearfully predicting that Mamdani and his fellow socialists would chase billionaires, commerce, and jobs out of New York. “We don’t want more people to leave New York. We don’t want businesses to leave New York,” billionaire investor John Catsimatidis said last November. “One percent of New Yorkers pay 48 percent of the taxes. If there’s an exodus, machine kaput.”
But the trend is clear: big business is embracing the city maybe more than ever. “New York City may be led by a democratic socialist who spends a lot of time castigating big business and landlords and leading a progressive coalition determined to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations,” writes business journalist Greg David in the City Reporter, “but leaders at some of the largest companies and professional service firms remain firmly committed to New York.”
