Hi Sophia, looks like you are wearing plastic clothes which release microplastics when washed. When I worked for the @UNFCCC, I sourced my natural fibre clothing through Germany's biggest second-hand store (@momoxfashion ), like here while meeting with @antonioguterres @COP26

🇧🇷 LULA CONVIRTIÓ LA BURLA EN UNA LECCIÓN DE CLASE. Flávio Bolsonaro quiso ridiculizar a Lula llamándolo “nueve dedos”.

“We are now in a supercharged El Niño,” explains PIK Director Johan Rockström, stating that even more extreme events could lie ahead in the coming months. This can already be felt in extreme events in tropical regions. youtube.com/watch?v=j_lNH2df…

This story is extremely important: A whistleblower revealed that Brazil's far-right Bolsonaro family dynasty met with Meta to discuss US plans to interfere in Brazil's election, to prevent Lula from winning. Lula's Facebook and Instagram accounts were censored a few days before the first round of the presidential election. This had a huge impact on the election, because Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which are all owned by Meta, are the most popular apps in Brazil, and are hugely influential all across Latin America. (Jair Bolsonaro's son Flávio was declared the winner of the first round of the vote, by a narrow margin.) Meta later admitted that Lula's accounts had been restricted, but it claimed that this was supposedly due to a "technical error"... The whistleblower who disclosed this is Nadia Beller, a Bolivian journalist who was almost killed by hitmen hired by Fernando Cerimedo, a far-right Argentine political operative who oversees election interference, bots, and disinformation campaigns. Cerimedo is closely linked to the US government and has worked for pretty much every right-wing leader in Latin America. He was photographed with Donald Trump Jr. and members of the Bolsonaro family, and he received an award at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida a few months before he was arrested for the failed assassination attempt against Beller, his pregnant ex-girlfriend. We spend an enormous amount of time talking about the very worst of us, so let's remember some of the best. This is Dr Karmele Llano Sanchez, a Spanish veterinarian rescuing orangutans from the wildfires in West Kalimantan. No AC or mod cons for wildlife rescuers and veterinarians working in the most challenging conditions in the field, often facing real danger with great courage. Eight orangutans have recently been treated and released, but the suffering witnessed has taken its toll on her team. Most people don't even know her name—she couldn't care less about that—but I do. People like her are true heroes, and we should know who they are.

The homeless woman murdered in Central Park was a beloved artist and birdwatcher who made beautiful pieces dedicated to birds. She went by Lee Rogers, but also was known as Elise Bainbridge Hill. Her art was awesome. I hope her life story is shared and not just the grisly details

The Argument For Clean Energy Has Flipped "Last week, the @IEA published a report called Electrification. Its central thesis can be traced back to 2009, when a Stanford engineer named Mark Jacobson wrote an article for Scientific American presciently arguing that we could power 100% of the planet with renewables. At the time, this was a somewhat niche position." ... "The IEA’s new report borrows many of the same concepts, and lists the benefits of electrification in the same order: energy security first, competitiveness second, and emissions third (think how different this is to the moral argument for taking climate action)." onlygoodnewsdaily.com/post/t…

The dignity we want for ourselves must be the dignity we demand for everybody. That is the conviction Barbados brings to the world. Solidarity means coming together. Justice means being fair. Thank you, Mayor @ZohranKMamdani, for your generous words and for bringing us together to put those values to work. As for the cricket lessons, those must happen in Barbados!

My friends, you crossed oceans and helped build nations. You sent money home and taught your children to love a country some had never seen. That love must never end with one generation. We are moving to extend citizenship by descent to the great-grandchildren of Bajans. They, too, must have the choice to come home. So bring the children. Bring the grandchildren. Let them walk where their grandparents walked. Let them feel the love behind the stories. To our family in Toronto and across the world, you are ours. We are yours. There will always be a place for you here. One people. One Barbados. Bajan to the bone.
