In 1996, refining earned 6–8% on capital. The cost of capital? 12%. By conventional financial logic, you don't build a refinery. Reliance built Jamnagar anyway. Today, it is the world's largest single-site refining complex. But the real achievement wasn't scale. It was rewriting the economics of refining. Three decisions made the difference: → Capital efficiency: Built in ~36 months, at a reported 30–50% lower capital cost than comparable projects. → Feedstock flexibility: Engineered to process difficult, discounted crude. Over 240 crude grades processed. → Vertical integration: Turning crude into fuels, petrochemicals and polyester, capturing value across the chain. The payoff? At Jamnagar's scale, every additional $1 per barrel in gross refining margin represents ~$500 million annually at full utilisation. Scale multiplies good economics. It never repairs bad ones. In 2017, reflecting on the ambition of young Indians, Mukesh Ambani remarked: "If I had the same infectious enthusiasm that this generation has, Reliance would be ten times bigger." That captures something profound about his vision: the belief that the next generation can build far beyond what already exists. The question for India's next generation of entrepreneurs isn't: How big can we build? It's what can we build today whose advantages will keep compounding for decades? My latest article explores The Jamnagar Playbook and the strategy behind one of India's greatest industrial achievements. #IndustrialStrategy #Reliance #Entrepreneurship #MukeshAmbani #Reliance The Jamnagar Playbook: How Reliance Rewrote the Economics of Refining linkedin.com/pulse/jamnagar-… via @LinkedIn

Ominous! Bon allez!
I have just informed my colleagues that I will step down as @ECB President on 7 February 2027. It has been a source of great pride to serve this institution. I thank all of those who have supported me on this journey over the past seven years.

the pay out is #1 in a million!
88% of VC-backed founders get $0 at exit. Wharton + Zurich study of 157k startups and 248k founders (1987–2025). Not “most startups fail.” Even when the company exits, liquidation preferences and founder churn wipe people out. Top 1% take 79% of everything. The equity lottery is rigged harder than people admit.

wow!
Almost seven weeks ago, I connected MTN MoMo to ChatGPT. Now, I’ve turned that experiment into an app called Nsimbi. Here’s what I’ve built so far 👇

a war not worth fighting! it's all a speculative move at the moment!
Uganda is tapping its nearly $7 billion in reserves to lessen the blow of a plunging shilling, which is the world’s second-worst-performing currency this month after Iraq’s dinar. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Uganda is at the frontier of case management regarding Ebola, the funding remains trapped in 'soundbites' and committee pronouncements @WHO

I am waiting for this to boil over! more pros than cons for the deal, in my opinion the Kenyan 'activist-legalistic psyce' will not agree!
Did State Corporations buy shares in Kenya Pipeline IPO to hold them for Aliko Dangote? If this is proven directly or through circumstantial evidence, it will violate every applicable provision of the Constitution, Statutes & established law. State institutions cannot be proxies for individuals. As over Kshs. 42B of public money was involved, Kenyans deserve the whole truth. In the US, the judicial system has developed the law called “facading”, where companies & its Directors are held criminally liable for financial engineering & manipulating the capital markets.
