TODAY: @Anza implements Alpenglow upgrade on @Solana, cutting finality to ~150ms, from ~12.8 seconds. Tom Warner (@redbeard), Head of BD at @DoubleZero, on @_TalkingTokens about why speed and predictability matter for institutions trading on Solana: "Traditional finance systems are incredibly faster than crypto systems. Every trading firm builds their model around how long does it take to execute, so you have predictability on, if I want to buy the stock, I know it’s going to take me 20 milliseconds, and then you can calculate based on how long your perceived price alpha exists."

When markets close for holidays, disasters, or war, TradFi has an off button. New Finance doesn’t. Yet, crypto still loses to Wall Street on speed. Here's @Austin_Federa on "New Finance", why the “financial super app” is a trap, and how @doublezero is fixing the rails 👇

Inside TheHUB, fair access starts with the physical network. Step inside the facility to see how participants connect, how fiber paths are calibrated to equalize latency, and how orders are timestamped at entry.

Blockchains are getting faster than the internet carrying them @Austin_Federa argues that years of software optimization have pushed blockchain performance toward a physical networking bottleneck. @doublezero tackles that with dedicated fiber infrastructure operated by independent providers, giving high-performance distributed systems an alternative to the public internet. The ambition extends beyond crypto, with blockchains, stablecoin networks and other distributed systems sharing the same infrastructure.

Binance’s top-of-book and trade data joined @doublezero Edge last week, bringing a distribution model via IP multicast, long used in traditional markets, to one of crypto’s largest sources of price discovery. If you’re not familiar with IP multicast, a simple way to explain it is this: with individual connections, like oracles traditionally use to distribute market data in crypto, the same update has to be sent separately to each recipient, introducing differences in delivery time as those connections are served. With multicast, data is sent once and replicated by the network, removing that sequential distribution step. DoubleZero now applies this model to @binance data, ingesting the feed in Tokyo and distributing it over its dedicated fiber network. The exchange’s matching engine and order book remain unchanged, but firms subscribing through Edge no longer depend on individual transmissions from the Edge distributor to receive each update. That removes one source of timing differences from market data delivery, leaving more of the competitive advantage to what firms do with the information once they receive it. And for traders looking to act based on that data, @TheHUB offers access to the Binance trading gateway with latency as low as 6 microseconds. DMs are open.
