Bad timing? Konnect just archived the project and converted it to a closed source paid model. "Konnect continues as Konnect-EDA, from Orchis.ai LLC. [...] Konnect-EDA is commercial, closed-source software, free to use during the beta (until version 1.0)."

So I found some neurons that have quite interesting effects on models... And they have varying effects when combined! The most interesting instance I've found is a combination that makes Qwen believe they are a Cookie Monster (1/3)

Buanyak banget kuotanya yg bahkan masih tersedia.

"Introduction to Neural Computation" is an MIT document that explains how AI systems mathematically model synapses, starting with their biological counterparts. In simple terms, in an artificial neural network, a synapse represents the connection between two neurons, much like in biological nervous systems. Each connection has an associated weight that determines how strongly a signal influences the receiving neuron. By adjusting these weights during training, neural networks learn to recognize patterns, make predictions, and perform increasingly complex tasks. It's a fascinating read for understanding how these models are mathematically formulated and how they have evolved to form the foundations of modern AI systems. ocw.mit.edu/courses/9-40-int…

hahaha, hell yeah! Autolith has been around a while and is used in at least one production environment plus a number of other interesting usecases (e.g. we explicitly support BSD systems, and there is a guy that turned it into an OpenBSD Openclaw-like assistant to great success). It is also used headlessly in production in Braiins for long-horizon research. I haven't heard about nodecode yet, but the Autolith website/readme (which are handwritten, I hate AI prose!) contain lists of Friends of Autolith, associated projects that try to push Lisp AI farther. Autolith is probably the most complete and mature of these, since a number of friend-authors occassionally contribute to Autolith. We have also produced a number of re-usable libraries to make building agentic stuff in Common Lisp easier for others :) We suck at marketing though lol, it's just our posts and word of mouth

Especially prevalent in chip design, except faster RTL can actually make the slow part slower lol AI tends to over-engineer RTL, and code in general (e.g. code bloat). In software that's kinda fine, but in hardware the extra logic turns into more stuff to place and route. Putting some papers in the replies that talk more in depth about this And it gets worse on novel stuff like a new accelerator or anything that’s not really publicly available for training. People I've talked to in industry say as they add AI to the front end, their back end is taking a lot longer
If AI makes you 10x faster at coding, why is your team not shipping 10x faster? Amdahl's law has the answer... The law says the overall speedup is capped by the part you did not speed up. With `p` as the fraction of the work you accelerate and `s` as the speedup on that fraction, speedup is computed as attached. Now plug in some numbers. Say writing code is 30% of the time from idea to production, and AI makes that part 10x faster. The overall speedup is 1 / (0.7 + 0.03), which is about 1.37x. Even if coding is half of the cycle, you get about 1.8x. These numbers are illustrative, so use your own, but the shape stays the same. The rest of the cycle is still there: - Figuring out what to build - Aligning product, design, and other teams. - Code reviews, which are now more than ever - CI and CD takes the same wall time as before. - Debugging and incidents, where code that nobody on the team wrote line by line takes longer to understand. In fact, it can get worse than Amdahl predicts. Faster code generation increases the load on every stage after it, so the review queue grows and the bottleneck shifts. A team that writes 10x more code with the same review capacity is just building a bigger queue, unfortunately So if you want the team to actually ship faster, measure the whole path from idea to production and find where work waits. Then apply AI there too: review, test generation, flaky test triage, deploy safety checks. Otherwise, you have optimized the part of the system that was never the constraint. Speeding up the typing was always the easy part :)

Over the last year, I've fallen in love with Rust. I was a C programmer for about a decade, really loved C, then moved to Python, but always kinda missed C. Then I discovered Rust, and well, I like it more than C. I also think we're moving into a time where we can see code as art in many ways. Code can be beautiful, or at least, it is to me. And while we all write code with agents now, that doesn't mean we can't write beautiful code, and work on improving our code quality. In a world where agents write all our code, writing better code is actually even more important imo. Soooo, I've been working on a skill that I use with my agents to write better Rust code, distilled from the Google Rust style guide, the official API Guidelines, Effective Rust, and a couple of others. Thought I'd share it, it's called BeautifulRust 🦀 ✨ github.com/morganlinton/Beau…

I don’t think that writing 30-100 lines of Rocq for every line of C/C++ is easier than rewriting C/C++ into Rust

I can run an entire OS built with Fil-C today, including a desktop, browser, and office suite. So this is a classic case of vaporware versus shipping software. Vaporware is always better in the imaginations of the people selling it

Just canceled OpenCode Go. I’m done with AI subscriptions. The sneaky quantization rugpull is obnoxious. If I’m going to run a degraded model, I’ll run a quantized version on my own hardware for free.
