Still amazes me people pick Stripe when stories like this keep happening There's an obvious reason why they keep happening Stripe lets anyone start selling in minutes, before a human ever looks at the business Algorithms watch your account once you're already selling A few stolen cards hit your store and it can flag you as the risk Then it closes your account And Stripe can hold your money for 120 days after that With a MID it's the other way round A real person checks your business before your first sale They know what you sell and how much before you start So when stolen cards hit, you call that person We can get you set up in 2-3 days, lmk
I got unbanned. Thank you @stripe But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix your banning system The only reason I got unbanned is because I made a public post. Many people who do not have the privilege of reaching you via the public are suffering still I know a dozen people who went through the same procedure of getitng banned for no reason and had no chance of getting unbanned with thousands of dollars being held hostage by your systems Your banning procedure needs MAJOR REFORM. No permanent ban should automated

Mercury just built the fastest way to lose 24% of every payout You can open the account before your EIN comes through Your processor doesn't work that way The IRS makes every card processor report what you sell on a 1099-K And if your tax ID is missing or doesn't match It has to hold back 24% of every payout and send it to the IRS So get your EIN before you take your first card payment And make sure the name on it matches your LLC to the letter
Waiting for your EIN shouldn’t slow you down. Now you can apply for a Mercury account while your EIN is pending. Start using your account as soon as it’s approved — just add your EIN within 90 days.

Your payment fees are never only 3% Maybe if your average order is $300 Stripe is 2.9% plus 30 cents an order On a $40 order that 30 cents is another 0.75% So you're paying 3.65% Customer with a card from another country, add 1.5% Paying in a different currency, add 1% Every chargeback, add $15 Budget 3% on a $40 store and your P&L is alr messed up before you've even sold anything But, on your own MID the rate is negotiated into your contract
Break your P&L into simple buckets: Cogs - coat of landed products to your warehouse Shipping - cost of postage and pick and pack Payment fees - 3% of total sales Adspend - all paid media Opex - your team, your salary your agencies Net profit - what’s left Tax - what you have to pay the feds

Anyone can get your course taken down by claiming they own it They just tell the platform your videos are theirs The platform takes them down right away US law protects the platform when it does that To get them back you sign a legal form saying they're yours Then you wait 10 to 14 business days Happens before Black Friday? You miss all of it And if your payments run through that same platform, they go down with your videos With your own MID your payments are separate The claim never touches them Move the course somewhere else and keep selling We can get you set up in 2-3 days, lmk
Replying to @whop
@whop suspended my account after I processed multi six figures through them. The reason: “sharing content that belonged to someone else” Every course video was recorded by me. UniOps was my own idea from day one. I’ve reached out to every Whop employee I know, and was left on “read” or “delivered” every time. You used to answer merchants 1on1 over iMessage. Now nobody answers, even when someone’s business gets shut off overnight. Going corporate is fine. Forgetting the merchants who built you isn’t. All I’m asking is for a real person to review this.

Stripe is choosing to ignore complaints like this from merchants Because all they need is a simple change to their policy Right now a ban freezes the whole balance for 120 days That covers every refund and dispute that could still come in Then on day 120 Stripe pays out the rest, minus "an appropriate proportion" it keeps for later disputes So Stripe already knows how to size a hold to the risk It just does it four months late With a merchant account that math is done upfront A reserve of a set % for a set number of days, written into the contract Do that at the ban and "unacceptable level of risk" finally comes up with a number And a MID is in your own name So you know that number before your first sale
So Stripe can PERMANENTLY BAN you without giving a concrete reason or warning. In ONE E-MAIL. This just happened to me. I have: -0 refunds -0 open disputes -hundreds of succesful payments -app is freemium, went about breakeven projected to 5k MRR, wanted to switch it up because Apple has been devious to us app devs recently. BOOM. E-mail at 2AM: "Your account has been locked." The reason they stated is "high risk". From what I understand it means activity like random people trying to buy my products with bad creditcards or trying to commit fraud and thus resulting in failed payments. But this is just me guessing. I'm not sure since their policy is very vague and looks AI written. The reason has nothing to do with my app. The app is freemium, sends free trial reminders before my users get charged and has a happy user base even though I don't earn much profit with it. THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU A WARNING. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU WHAT RULE YOU VIOLATED. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU WHAT TO FIX. THEY HOLD YOUR REVENUE HOSTAGE. I just went viral on TikTok too... Wasted huge amounts of money on marketing budget for nothing. I just cancelled all my active free trials because I don't want to charge my customers money if they cannot manage their subscription. Why am I getting punished for something totally out of my control? I enabled Radar, wanted to do 3DS, I added so many risk-reducing measurements but still some people will simply try fraudelent creditcards. What more can I do? I've seen so many other people on X experience the same. Please give us an answer, indie app builders are suffering from a broken system. @stripe @stripesupport @patrickc

Swipe Ryze's ads all you want, Ryze got sued over its checkout A class action in California says Ryze hid the subscription terms And made it hard to cancel Last year Ryze also dropped its health claims after an ad watchdog looked at them Copy those claims onto a new store and Shopify Payments can shut you off Its rules ban health claims that aren't approved Copy the subscription and every surprised customer is a chargeback Visa's limit is 1.5% on your total orders
Need brands to swipe from that aren't Ryze and Resilia? (Although they have fire ads). Here are 10 brands that I’ve been swiping from this past month. Scandi Gum (I’ve been seeing Scandi coming out with really cool angles and formats, they’re well worth looking at if you haven't already) HiStrips (They’re running highly relatable ads with some pretty cool visual hooks) Smooche (Loads of UGC content with cool visual hooks and contrarian angles) Rennora Beauty (Great song ads) Alpha Brew (They’re running tons of statics and native ads, plus its worth looking at their positioning too.) Nobl (Overall great copywriting skills, great mechanism framing and persuasion) KittySpout (If you need to swipe from a brand that persuades people to buy using the most gut wrenching sad copy+visuals then go to this brand, I literally cried watching their ads lol) Shop Cubes/Kinky Cubes (How do I explain this brand… welp, 18+ static visuals) Sofyre (Good authority ads) Reformed (If you’re writing for a female audience, they’re ads are definitely worth swiping.)

The world's richest man wants customers to send his AI a photo of their credit card So every wrong thing Grok buys is a chargeback on YOUR account Your customer's bank never asks Grok what happened It asks you "I didn't order this" is a fraud chargeback And you lose it unless the bank checked the card at checkout Visa counts every one of those against you, won or lost The fee too And Grok doesn't get a chargeback ratio
F*ck YES... Elon Musk's team just made Amazon useless Amazon blocked Grok Bot this month, so they shipped shopping on Wednesday: Grok Bot now buys from every other store for you It finds the item, compares prices, pays with Shop Pay and tracks the box to your door First thing I gave it: a new TV, $400 less than Amazon 6 things I'm never shopping for by hand again, and the exact line I say: → Amazon: "Find this exact item at another store for less" → Nike: "Running shoes in size 10 under $80, top rated only, show me 3" → Best Buy: "Watch these headphones and message me the moment they drop 20%" → Costco: "Reorder my coffee every 30 days wherever it's cheapest, ask me first" → Etsy: "3 gifts for my mom under $50, delivered by Friday" → UPS: "Track every order and tell me the day one runs late" Add one rule first: never buy anything without asking me Say the Amazon line to Grok Bot tonight Then read how to turn one bot like this into a whole team in the article below ↓

Private equity wants to buy $3.7 trillion of card payments with borrowed money The company is Global Payments Most people have never heard of it It handles card payments for over 6 million stores Two private equity firms want to buy it for $40 billion It already owes $17 billion Deals like this are mostly paid for with more borrowed money And that debt gets paid back from the fee stores pay on every card sale Which is already baked into the price of everything you buy One of the two firms sold Global Payments its biggest business in January Now it wants to buy the buyer

Shopify's 89% approval rate has almost nothing to do with Shopify We approve 95% at the processor level What moves your approval rate is the checkout the card goes through And who your ads are sending to it Target the wrong crowd and you get "do not honor" That's the bank declining without telling you why Or it's a scammer running a stolen card, and every processor should decline that And even then Shopify Payments still lists any form of nutra with health claims as prohibited So that approval rate won't matter if you never get your payout
INSANE approval rates by @Shopify. This is why NUTRA sellers (MCC 5499) try whatever it takes to stay on or return to Shopify Payments - you don't see 90% approval rates anywhere else... 🤯

Threatening SeatGeek with the FTC is useless The FTC doesn't settle one person's complaint It just files it to build cases later Your card company settles it Visa allows for 120 days to dispute, counted from the event date And up to 540 days after you bought them On a credit card you don't have to pay that charge while the bank looks into it SeatGeek gets 30 days to prove the tickets worked And the dispute counts against SeatGeek even if they win
Hey @SeatGeek your company and ticket and buyer guarantee are trash. Got tickets for my daughter and her friend through you. FOR HER BIRTHDAY. They get to the venue and the tickets FROM YOUR SYSTEM are denied. Customer service tells me it'll take 5 days to resolve. They have no other options, cannot get them in, and I have to buy MORE tickets to get them in. With NO promise of a refund. I guess I'll find out in a few days. They have worse seats now. This is beyond shitty. Can't wait to drag you to the FTC, BBB, small claims, here, and anywhere else I can think of.

Copy Resilia and you'll be on the MATCH list before you're at $30M Resilia's reviews keep saying the same thing They bought once and got put on a subscription they didn't know about A copy gets those same customers On a brand new merchant account Stripe calls a dispute rate over 0.75% excessive Visa's line is 1.5%, and it counts every dispute and fraud report, won or lost A new store with a hidden subscription can blow past both on its first rebill cycle
My Ecom children, Resilia doing 30 million a month should not want to make you do another version of their shit brand. Instead take the proven market and go deep on some product that is actually good and much harder to replicate. High quality, hard to make, truly effective etc Then use strong marketing to win over people from the shitty brands. Go slower and build trust. You don’t want 40m now from lying to people. You want 20m later from something you are proud of. This is the way.

Meta is coming for every card on your ad account, Slash was just first Meta stopped taking part of Slash's credit card BINs this week A BIN is the first digits of a card, it tells Meta who issued it Slash says 95% of the accounts hit are already back up on a debit card or ACH And that this is a Meta change rolling out to other card providers next In April Meta started moving big advertisers off cards and onto invoices Pay by invoice and there's nothing to charge back Slash got hit first because around 2% of all Meta ad spend runs on its cards Every card that big has bad actors on it, Amex and Chase included But nobody calls them a fraud magnet
Warning to every Slash user! Slash either has the worst compliance team across all Neobanks out there, or half their business model comes from catering to bad actors. Now it's catching up to them. Meta just banned all Slash Credit Bins and deactivated ad dashboards associated with Slash. If not resolved, it could result in $1B in annual transaction volume loss. Slash CEO claims they cover 2% of total Meta ad spend. Reasons are unclear why they’re banned, but rumors suggest a fraud scheme using Slash cards to run chargebacks on Meta, making them lose significant dollars. Earlier this year, I uncovered a No-KYC card linked to Slash, and today I've found some really concerning messages from Slash employees enticing gray hat/black hats to join their platform with strong promises. In just 1 group, an employee sent 60 replies telling rejected applicants to DM with a few other worrying messages. They've even promised to "never freeze / lock your account especially if you’re in the e-commerce business" I've attached some proof, but I'm going to do a lot more research into this. Anyone here affected by Slash or willing to provide me with tips regarding the situation? Maybe I'm being too harsh on them, but there's a lot to worry about.

Wise was never a bank It's a money transmitter So the cash sitting in a normal Wise balance isn't FDIC insured And its terms let it close any account at its own discretion No reason needed If it reported the account to the government, it's not even allowed to give one Telling him would break the law So that formal complaint won't get him an answer 8 figure brands keep the operating cash at a real bank And use Wise to move it
Wise shut down my company's business account on October 29 with zero explanation, and they're sitting on our operating cash with no timeline to give it back. Four weeks before Black Friday. I've been a Wise customer for over 2 years without a single issue. We run an 8-figure ecommerce brand, and that money pays our team and our suppliers. Formal complaint filed (ref 52421395). We've done everything they asked. We need our money back this week. @Wise @kaarmann, put a real person on this. Call me, email me, DM me. If you know someone at Wise who can get this in front of the right team, DM me. Reposts help 🙏

NEVER answer a chargeback with a paragraph about how the customer is lying The bank's analyst doesn't care who's lying They check what the reason code asks for For "not received" that's tracking showing delivered to the address on the order For a digital product it's the IP, device and login times Send that and stop

"Shopify keeps getting better" The store builder does But the processing still remains one of the worst Every store on Shopify Payments is a sub account on Shopify's own merchant account So once you scale, an algorithm decides how much of your money to hold The standard reserve is 10% of every sale for 120 days Launching got cheaper except for actually getting your money On your own MID the reserve terms are in your agreement before your first sale We can a MID set up in 2-3 days, lmk
"Ecom is dead" is the worst take on X right now We're in the middle of a golden age. People will look back at 2024-2026 the same way marketers look back at Facebook ads in 2014 1. Shopify keeps getting better. The infrastructure for launching and scaling a brand has never been cheaper or more accessible. 2. AI is collapsing content costs. Brands that used to spend $20k/month on creative are doing it for a fraction. That margin goes straight to growth. 3. Email and SMS are printing. Open rates are up. Klaviyo keeps releasing features that used to require custom dev work. The channel is stronger than it's ever been. 4. Consumers are still spending. US ecom hit $1.1 trillion in 2023. That number is going up, not down. 5. The noise is thinning out. Lazy dropshippers are gone. What's left are real operators building real brands. The people calling it dead are the ones who couldn't make it work The ones building now will have accomplished crazy things a few years from now

Grok is about to kill a lot of BH rebill brands Its bot can now start a free trial and cancel it before the first charge And a lot of subscription brands in ecom right nowadays do blackhat rebilling "Free, just pay shipping" Then a monthly charge in the small print And no cancel button The whole model runs on people not noticing Grok notices for them Visa tried to stop this in 2020 You have to email a reminder at least 7 days before the first charge, with a link to cancel The blackhat ecom brands skip it So the people who do notice go to their bank Every one of those is a chargeback Now the AI cancels before there's a charge to dispute
The latest Grok Bot release (v0.78.1) takes another big step toward genuinely autonomous AI agents! The standout new @bot features: • AI shopping: Products now appear in rich cards with photos, ratings, prices, and store comparisons. Bots can initiate purchases with your approval. • Order tracking: Bots monitor your purchases and notify you when orders ship or arrive. • Subscription management: Bots can find unused subscriptions, cancel the ones you select, and monitor renewal prices. • Free trial automation: A new template starts free trials and cancels them, or reminds you to cancel, before you're charged. • Shop Pay integration: Connect your payment method for streamlined AI-assisted purchases. • Custom cloud agents: Bots can launch cloud agents in named custom modes and continue interacting with them. AI agents are moving beyond answering questions to actually managing everyday tasks for you.

NEVER open a second Shopify store to get away from a hold The new store's Shopify Payments signup asks for the same things Your name, your SSN, your EIN, your bank account Shopify links it to you Now you're the merchant who tried to dodge That's how a hold turns into both stores closed This also applies to bans or reserves

Shopify Plus is the biggest scam out there All that plus does is upgrades the store The payments still run on Shopify Payments And every merchant on it, Basic or Plus, is a sub account under Shopify's own merchant account So the same ai algorithm sets the same 10% for 120 days Support can't lift it, human or AI All they can do is forward the ticket And 120 days is a long ass time Black Friday's 10% comes back March 27 Christmas comes back April 24 But on your own MID the reserve terms are in your agreement before your first sale We can get you set up in 2-3 days, lmk
Update on the shopify hold. still 10% of our payouts held for 120 days, that money only comes back on feb 19 2027. so after black friday and after christmas. 5 days later and we still only get automated AI answers. we pay for shopify plus, so i think we should have a dedicated account manager, one real person who knows our store. @tobi @Shopify

To Visa a won chargeback is the same as one you lost Their fraud and dispute program counts every dispute filed on your sales Win or lose And a refund takes 5-10 business days to show up on the customer's card Until then their bank app still shows the charge The fix is one simple number Every card refund has an ARN, basically a tracking number for the refund Stripe shows it on the payment Put it in your refund email Their bank can trace the money with it before anyone files anything
Looks like there’s a scam going around that misuses the @stripe & @Revolut dispute system. A customer bought my product for $29, then sent an automated refund request on 22 Oct. I refunded them right away. Today (28 Oct) I got an email: “REVOLUT LTD has initiated a $29 USD dispute.” I thought it was a new dispute, so I accepted it. Stripe took $29 + $15 dispute fee from my balance. Then I realized I had already refunded this customer. So why did their bank open a dispute? End result: the customer paid $29 and got back $27.42 (partial refund they asked for) + $29 = $56.42. I have no idea why the bank allows a dispute on a payment that was already refunded. @stripe @Revolut
