Nobody told India to take it easy for my first Diwali.
Fireworks started at 6 in the morning.
It’s now 1 at night and they’re still going.
I joined in with some anar and chakri too.
Soo apparently watching wasn’t enough, had to get involved myself.
It’s my fifth time in India but my first time being here for Diwali.
Really happy I finally get to experience it.
There’s only so much you understand about a celebration from watching videos.
Being here while it’s happening is something else.
And from what I’m told, there’s another day or two of celebrations still to come.
Tonight I’m just happy to be here.
Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating.
To anyone nearby trying to sleep, I’m guessing you’re having a difficult evening.
My crackers are the biggest by far.

Hating on Indian Americans is extremely low IQ.
They are:
1. Twice as educated as average Americans
2. Household income 2x the average (so they’re producing more and paying more taxes)
3. Married at higher rates than average
4. Half the national poverty rate
5. Commit crimes and use welfare at lower-than-average rates
Oh, and their food SLAPS.
You can have a legitimate perspective opposing H-1 B visas or legal immigration. But if you just hate on Indian Americans in general... that's dumb and weird. They're actually just a disproportionately awesome segment of society.

What a great movie week.
First my ass is blown away by a giant lizard who can spit blue nuclear-laser bombs. Then, tonight, a piece of Hindu mythology makes 3 hours fly by like the Diwali fireworks shooting past my window.
1. Like LOTR, Ramayana embodies the word Epic. It's a glorious culmination of all those movies where you get breath-taking aerial shots (of, say, millions of soldiers about to kick ass) and you feel like watching some huge amazing thing happen at a super-scale.
It's just grand as balls.
2. I'm betting Director Nitesh Tiwari would be frickin' insulted if any airline ever included this into its in-flight entertainment.
No, this movie is 100% NOT for watching inside a flying plastic tube whilst chewing on chicken pasta or a cheap fruit-salad cup. This movie, not unlike Godzilla, demands that audiences sit down in front of the biggest theater their city has to offer, turn off their goddamn phones, STFU, and bask in all its glory.
3. And glory is what it serves up.
The action is unreal and grabs you from the get-go. In fact about 80% of the first 30 minutes is swords clashing and bodies flying. Whilst I suspect I've seen better CGI, no one will be complaining too much.
I also swear I've not seen a flying battle elephant until this movie (Jumbo obviously doesn't count).
4. Even the non-action scenes are shot like it's meant to be nominated for Best Visuals.
A straight-forward Hello or Farewell sequence can be stretched 10-minutes replete with orchestral accompaniment (and this is probably my only quibble i.e. some portions took unnecessarily long and felt like Tiwari taking the self-indulgent piss).
5. The actors. As far as I'm concerned, a young Sly Stallone was Ram, Gerald Butler was Ravana, Eric Bana was Lakshman and I don't know who the actresses are but they were smokin' 🔥.
6. It helped that I'm glib about Hindu mythology so I really have no idea what's about to happen.
7. Did I prefer this movie or Ne Zha 2?
If you put a Glock to my head I"ll say NZ (its visual audacity remain unmatched) but I can't deny I'm salivating for Ramayana Part 2.
8. Ram and his bow brought back Odyssey vibes.

No one, absolutely no one in America is ever - ever - ever going to celebrate this idiot idea of removing non-white people from the country to preserve America or whatever nonsense these people tell themselves.
No one is ever going to tolerate targeting Hindus. No one is ever going to agree to mass deportations of people simply because they practice a different religion. No one is ever going to agree with you on 'Heritage American,' white supremacy.
None of it is going to happen.
All that will happen is a profound loss of political influence, being pushed out of society and remembered solely for contributing to an archaic, ignorant, bigoted worldview that has long been eradicated.
There is no future in any of this, just obnoxiously stubborn certainty that likes on X equate with real-life influence.

Many Islamists are ignorant and arrogant.
The idea of fasting Ramadan is not for non-Muslims to pamper Muslims, but for Muslims to learn self-control despite temptation.
Understand your faith before arrogantly asking for respect. 👇👇
Dear non-Muslims,
As Ramadan is just 92 days away,
Please avoid eating in front of Muslims who are fasting.
Please avoid drinking in their presence.
Do not deliberately tempt those observing the fast.
Muslims will be fasting from dawn until sunset.
A little consideration and respect go a long way. ❤️🌙

Every day in Albany, my mom called me with one question: “Are you going to pass your bill to make Diwali a school holiday?”
It was more than my mother’s question. It was the call of an entire community.
They said it was impossible. I got it done in one session.
