Medvedev is mocking Ukrainians over the prospect of outdoor toilets in Kyiv after Russia’s attacks on our energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, according to Russia’s own official statistics, 13.7% of Russian households still rely on cesspits, 3% have no sewage system at all, and 7.8% use outdoor or shared toilets.
Russia bombs our infrastructure, then laughs at the consequences. All while millions of Russians still live with the very problems Medvedev finds so funny.

The police in russia have been "recruiters" for the army for a while already. They get bonuses for getting people to sign papers and use any tactic they want, usually violent.
I'm just surprised to see this extended to Moscow. They're getting desperate.
⚡️ Moscow police detain over 200 people, reportedly forcing some to sign military contracts.
Detainees told the Russian Telegram channel “Ostorozhno, Novosti” that those over the age of 18 were “persistently” urged to sign a contract with Russia’s Defense Ministry.

“Europe’s nuclear safety cannot remain at the mercy of the country that deliberately put it at risk.
The only sustainable solution is the return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to its rightful owner and operator, Ukraine.”
— Andrii Sybiha
Tonight, for the 16th time this year alone, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant has lost all external power. Once again, nuclear safety at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP depends on emergency diesel generators, with fuel reserves sufficient for only around two weeks of limited operation.
The sheer recklessness of this situation is staggering. The same country that illegally occupies the plant continues to devastate Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, putting European nuclear safety at serious risk.
Russia has no right to hold an entire continent hostage to the consequences of its occupation. Moscow has turned nuclear safety into another instrument of blackmail, demonstrating a cynical disregard for the risks its actions pose. The Kremlin cannot pretend that the consequences of its actions will somehow remain confined to Ukraine.
We appreciate the continued efforts of @iaeaorg Director General @rafaelmgrossi and his team to safeguard nuclear safety at the plant.
Russia has been and remains the only source of safety risks and power supply problems. This is the Kremlin’s cynicism at its most dangerous: creating nuclear risks while obstructing efforts to address them.
The international response must finally match the scale of the danger. Sanctions against Rosatom are long overdue. A corporation directly involved in the illegal occupation of a nuclear power plant cannot continue enjoying business as usual internationally.
Europe’s nuclear safety cannot remain at the mercy of the country that deliberately put it at risk. The only sustainable solution is the return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to its rightful owner and operator, Ukraine.

The war dead Moscow won’t publish
Russia’s statistics agency recorded them anyway, hackers say: 393,881 to 450,100 through August, far above the 285,023 names the BBC has confirmed.

To everyone who says Ukraine should just compromise:
Georgia signed a ceasefire with Russia in 2008. Russian troops still occupy about 20% of its territory.
A compromise with Moscow doesn't end the war. It's the intermission.

So @lisanandy announces a clearly political Brexit related policy in a press release about Remembrance Sunday
If that’s not crass and vulgar enough…
When other politicians and those in the armed forces criticise her, she accuses *them* of ‘politicising’ Remembrance Sunday, and piously claims we shouldn’t discuss politics on such an important day
Have I described this little gas lighting gem of hypocrisy correctly?

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we honour all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of freedom and peace.
Across the United Kingdom, we remember those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and in conflicts since. This tradition of remembrance dates back to the Armistice of 11 November 1918, which brought the fighting of the First World War to an end.
For Ukraine, remembrance is not only about the past. Every day, our brave men and women continue to make the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our freedom.
Today, we also pay special tribute to the courageous British volunteers who have stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainian defenders, including those who have laid down their lives so that the free world may remain free, just as generations of Britons did during the two World Wars.
Their courage and sacrifice will forever be remembered in Ukraine’s history and stand as an enduring bond that strengthens the strategic partnership between our two nations.
We remember. We honour. We will never forget.
Lest We Forget.

"Three European officials contacted by CNN did not know what Kushner or Trump were referring to."
Neither Europeans nor Ukrainians trust the US. Any agreement reached behind their backs will be stillborn. Europeans wonder whether Trump realizes this.

The sooner we realize Putin doesn’t actually want to end the war, the sooner we can make actual progress toward ending the war.
And yet Putin continues his brutal invasion of Ukraine…clear evidence Putin uses “negotiations” as cover to carry on fighting with no intention of stopping until his military machine is stopped

Zelenskyy: "If the world does not have enough anti-ballistic capabilities to protect Ukrainian skies, then the missiles must be stopped on the production lines. We count on a strong 22nd EU sanctions package"
This morning, the Russians attacked Komyshuvakha with an FPV drone, where emergency rescue operations have been underway for seven days following an aerial bomb strike that killed 55 people. Unfortunately, more people may still be under the rubble. Absolute cynicism and brutality. There was also an overnight attack on the Dnipro region – the Russians struck energy infrastructure, leaving more than 600,000 people in Dnipro and the region without power. In the Kharkiv region, the situation is difficult too. There are widespread power outages across the country. In the Zhytomyr region alone, 140 apartment buildings were left without heating following a Russian strike. Repair work is underway in virtually every affected city and community. I thank the energy workers, utility workers, and every repair crew who are literally working 24/7 to restore water, electricity, and heating supplies to people.
In total, this past week alone, Russia has launched 115 missiles of various types, nearly 1,900 guided aerial bombs, and more than 3,000 attack drones against our cities and communities. These are combined strikes involving many ballistic missiles. And a significant portion of the missiles were manufactured this year. We constantly provide our partners with information about Russian enterprises involved in ballistic missile production. In October, Ukraine imposed major sanctions packages on the individuals and legal entities involved. It is very important that they be synchronized across Europe and G7 jurisdictions. If the world does not have enough anti-ballistic capabilities to protect Ukrainian skies, then the missiles must be stopped on the production lines. We count on a strong 22nd EU sanctions package. Thank you to all partners who are truly helping.

🚨 Former CIA Director David Petraeus says Russia has suffered 1.5 million killed and wounded in its war against Ukraine — more casualties than the United States suffered in all of World War II.
Petraeus warns that Putin could eventually reach a point where Russia can no longer recruit enough soldiers to replace its losses.
And those sent to the front receive inadequate training. As Petraeus puts it, they’re treated almost like human cannon fodder.
Putin promised to restore Russia’s greatness. Instead, he’s sacrificing an entire generation to preserve his own ambitions.
How many more Russians must die before Russia asks what they’re actually dying for?

"Maybe some Ukrainians want to be part of Russia. Many are russian speakers, you know." There really are some stupid fucks in this world.
No. The people of Ukraine have no desire to be ruled like this. In fact it was police violence that reinvigorated the Revolution Of Dignity.

Senator Blumenthal will introduce a bill to restore aid to Ukraine and tighten sanctions on Russia. He says Trump must restore the suspended sanctions, end his diesel deal and provide military aid, including air defense, and that Trump needs new negotiators.
Ukrainian forces struck four Russian drone command posts in occupied areas and Russia's Bryansk region in 24 hours, military officials said.
Targets included a high-value base belonging to Russia's specialized Rubikon UAV unit in occupied Berdiansk.

Trump is opening the White House ever wider to Russian citizens and people connected to the Russian authorities. He has offered UFC chief Dana White the position of press secretary and suggested that he bring six fighters with him as “assistants.” White announced that he would meet Trump on November 9 to discuss the offer.
UFC, which White heads, has a business connection to the fund run by Kirill Dmitriev. In 2018, the company established a joint venture to operate in Russia. Its investors included the UAE’s Mubadala and the Russia-China Investment Fund, whose co-founders include the Russian Direct Investment Fund, headed by Dmitriev.
Among the proposed “assistants,” Khabib Nurmagomedov has the most prominent political connections. He met Putin in 2018 and 2019 and has repeatedly visited Kadyrov. Trump is now proposing to employ him at the White House.
White himself has spoken about the material rewards Nurmagomedov received from the Russian authorities. In a 2024 episode of the Games with Names podcast, he claimed that, after Nurmagomedov’s victory over McGregor, Putin gave him and his father property worth approximately $20 million.
Another proposed “assistant,” Islam Makhachev, maintained contacts with Kadyrov’s circle after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In October 2022, he brought his championship belt to Chechnya and posed for photographs with Kadyrov. In 2026, Makhachev became a global sambo ambassador for FIAS. The federation is headed by Vasily Shestakov, Putin’s longtime judo partner, who has himself spoken about their friendship.
Among the Americans named, Justin Gaethje has the clearest documented contact with Kadyrov’s infrastructure. In November 2022, he visited Chechnya alongside Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, where they fired weapons at a training facility for Russian security forces. Gaethje also confirmed attending a birthday celebration for one of Kadyrov’s sons.
Kadyrov’s sporting network is directly connected to the war. The US Treasury has explicitly linked his MMA clubs to recruitment for military operations against Ukraine. Akhmat MMA and Absolute Championship Akhmat are subject to US sanctions as entities owned or controlled by Kadyrov. Contacts with this network give the Russian authorities international visibility, prestige and opportunities to use athletes’ standing to advance their interests.
Four of the six fighters named are connected through Ali Abdelaziz’s agency, Dominance MMA: its official website lists Nurmagomedov, Makhachev, Gaethje and Kayla Harrison among its clients. Abdelaziz has publicly defended Nurmagomedov’s contacts with Kadyrov and has his own access to Trump. On May 6, 2026, Reuters photographed him in the Oval Office during the president’s meeting with UFC representatives.
A personnel bridge between UFC and the administration already exists. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung worked for UFC from 2013 to 2016 and publicly supported the offer to White.
Trump is now proposing government positions for people from a milieu where Russian political patronage and commercial interests intersect. This creates additional channels for Kremlin influence within the US administration. With this approach to selecting candidates, Trump might as well simply offer Kirill Dmitriev a part-time position as his deputy.
