“Somalia’s time is now! A peaceful East Africa’s time is now!”
These words from H.E. Ambassador Beyene Russom captured the spirit of Day 1 at the third @GSEFForum
Our conversations centred on entrepreneurship, regional integration, investment and the role of peace in building stronger economies.
We explored the opportunities presented by Somalia’s membership in the East African Community and what it will take to translate regional integration into meaningful opportunities for Somali businesses.
One key takeaway: An open market does not automatically mean an accessible market. Businesses need access to finance, reliable infrastructure, predictable regulations and the right networks to thrive.
Day 1 reminded us that economic growth requires more than ambition. It requires collaboration, stability and action.
The opportunity is there. Now, we must build on it together.

All the Christian who knows the Bible knows propehts Muhammad is a true prophet.
check Isaiah 29:12
"The book given to one who cannot read" - " Isaiah 29:12
"Isaiah 29:11-12'
11. And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed. When men give it to one who can read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
12. And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”
This matches exactly the first revelation in Cave Hira.
Sahih Bukhari 3: Jibril came to the Prophet ﷺ and said “Iqra - Read”
The Prophet ﷺ replied “Ma ana bi qari - I am not one who reads.”
This happened 3 times.
How could an unlettered man in the desert, who couldn’t read/write, bring a book like the Qur'an with law, history, science, language? That itself is a sign.
Ho do you eve feel watching this explanation ?

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our Chief Guest, @HonAdenDuale , Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya, for honouring our invitation for the second time to the Global Somalia Entrepreneurship Forum (GSEF) 2026.
Your continued support and presence mean a great deal to us and reaffirm the importance of creating spaces where entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors and business leaders can come together to shape the future of our economies.
One of the most powerful messages from your address was the recognition that while East Africa has immense potential, we must confront challenges such as youth unemployment, barriers to investment, infrastructure gaps and unequal access to economic opportunities.
You stated:
“The future of East Africa will depend on how effectively we bring these elements together to build competitive, inclusive and resilient economies.”
This statement is particularly important because entrepreneurship does not thrive in isolation. Entrepreneurs need an enabling business environment, access to capital, strong institutions, reliable infrastructure and opportunities to access regional markets.

Well done on a well attended forum. Keep shining. – at Nairobi, Kenya
I had the pleasure of delivering the opening address at the third Global Somali Entrepreneurship Forum (GSEF 2026) in Nairobi, under the theme “Shaping the Future of East Africa through Innovation, Inclusive Governance, Regional Integration, and Sustainable Investment.”
My message was simple: every partnership begins with a conversation, but its real value lies in what happens next.
As we look towards a more connected and prosperous East Africa, we must create the conditions for businesses to thrive. That means strengthening institutions, embracing innovation and digital transformation, deepening regional trade and cooperation, and unlocking the potential of diaspora capital and sustainable investment.
It also means being intentional about inclusion, ensuring women and youth led enterprises have greater access to finance, mentorship and markets.
GSEF 2026 provides an important platform to bring these conversations to the table. The opportunity now is to turn them into meaningful connections, credible investment opportunities and partnerships that endure beyond the forum.
Because the future of East Africa will not be shaped by conversations alone, but by the action, collaboration and commitment that follow.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to @AhmedFarah__ , Executive Director of the East African Business Council, for honouring us with his presence at the third Global Somalia Entrepreneurship Forum (GSEF) 2026.
His remarks highlighted the importance of Somalia’s membership in the East African Community (EAC) and how regional integration can unlock new opportunities for Somali businesses.
He drew attention to the significant trade imbalance, noting that Somalia imports nearly seven dollars’ worth of goods for every dollar it exports. As he aptly stated, “For a country with Somalia’s commercial talent, that is a gap we should be working hard to close.”

Dr. Arawelo is a highly successful Somali doctor from Wajir whose demanding medical career has shaped her ambitions and her view of marriage. Wanting love, companionship and a family without sacrificing the career she has worked so hard to build, she makes an unconventional decision: to marry a man who is already married, believing that sharing the responsibilities of marriage could give her the space to pursue her dreams. She calls her idea “lighter duties.”
