George Mason was actually in the conversation for an at-large bid with a 21-3 mark a couple weeks ago. That talk has since ceased. The Patriots have now, in their last three contests, lost to to Richmond by 12, George Washington by 19, and (last night) Dayton by 15. Those three games were rated by our site as George Mason's three worst performances of the entire season.
The Patriots fell another 16 spots to #125 in our performance rankings following last night's defeat. It is George Mason's worst ranking at Haslametrics.com this season and their lowest since the first week of the 2023-24 season.

The next A10 Commissioner has to find a way to get its best teams more Quad 1 opportunities.
The caliber of basketball at the top of this league — VCU, SLU, Mason, & UD — is as good as or better than most MM leagues with the exception of the WCC, but has been boxed out.

Obviously VCU and GMU are both NCAA teams. When I was at GMU we got 2 at-large bids with similar RPI as GMU this year. We only made the final four and Round of 32 in those years. The change is in the metric not in the quality of the team.
