Been working with AuthKit by WorkOS for our SaaS.
Honestly, why would you build your own authentication system at this point? Passkeys, MFA, SSO, bot protection, leaked password checks... all handled by people who specialise in this stuff.
I love what AI lets us build, but authentication (& security) is one area where I'd most definitely rather not discover my mistakes in production.
At some point you need to stop playing covers and start playing your own songs.
You cannot execute someone else's strategy.
Nobody thinks about your business nearly as much as you do. No one can obsess over the problem more than you. You have more data than all of them combined. You're the one who has to execute on all the space in between.
Every decision downstream of a framework you don't actually believe in gets wobbly. You just accumulate drift.
When things don't go perfectly right (and at a startup, they won't), you'll start second-guessing the whole thing and think you probably should have just done it your way. So yeah, just do that from the start.
I'm excited to speak at SEV0 in a couple weeks. We were a very early user of @incident_io and their product is also powered by @workos 🤝
Both companies were started in a pre-AI era and have transitioned to building for the agentic software wave.
I have some free tickets for our community 🔥 DM me for details luma.com/wuoe9ul2
this will be a great event! see you next week
I'll be in SF next week! 🌁
If you're around, join me, @aarondfrancis, @samlambert (PlanetScale), and @grinich (WorkOS) for a founder's panel on building and shipping in these wild and crazy AI times.

I'll also be hanging around @resend Forward next Wednesday! 💌

Did anyone get cooler swag or badges than these during SF Tech Week? I’m so happy with mine!
-ModRetro Chromatic from OpenAI DevDay
-Pimoroni Tufty 2350 from Supabase Select
-M5Stack Stopwatch from WorkOS init conference
Last week at init(), I shared the next chapter of WorkOS.
We’re building infrastructure for a world where humans and agents work together, and anyone can build software.
Three new products with live demos:
1) Airlock
• Give agents access without giving them unlimited access.
• Define your policies in natural language. Let agents work within them, block what’s off-limits, and escalate decisions that need a human.
• No more choosing between approving every action and "dangerously skip permissions." 🤖
2) Atlas
• Turn any idea into a secure internal app with your favorite coding agent.
• Auth, permissions, data connectors, databases, AI gateway, and deployment built in.
• A secure home for everything your team builds. 🌐
3) Passport
• Single-sign on is super annoying, so we fixed it.
• With WorkOS Passport, you're automatically signed in to all your apps.
• Zero sign-on. Just open your Mac and get to work.
We believe companies in this next era won’t simply use AI. They’ll be redesigned around intelligence. And the world will need new infrastructure to power this revolution.
That’s the future we’re building for. Full keynote below:

technology is perfected at the exact moment it becomes obsolete
There’s something beautiful about the most expensive game of all time ($2B) being dropped the same month that AI models became capable of creating comparable experiences.
The swan song for the Big Studio Era.
new @authkit template?
the 💎 for checkbox is a nice touch
We gave init() attendees tiny programmable computers, and they put everything from DOOM to animated avatars and Tamagotchis on them.

Proud of this team. What a day!
Thank you to our speakers, to @stripe, @databricks, and @Cloudflare for sponsoring, and thank you to the 600+ builders who came out to init().
