Wait, women can't vote but can be MPs? Maybe they can vote but only for themselves?? Perfectly logical!

Indeed. And - I'm afraid to break it to you - if you believe in human dignity you are religious too. In fact, (as @holland_tom says) you might as well believe in angels! All has it's basis in medieval (Christian) theology. Sorry!

Less than 50% of the population, yes, but culturally and in pretty much every other deep institutional way, from the Common Law up we are a deeply Christian country. One can be both, water the roots, the flowers can take care of themselves.

There’s holding a bizarre opinion with its own erroneous internal logic that might be amusing to debate over a drink when you’ve exhausted every other conversation topic - and then there’s just plain old misogyny.
Does not take much. Part of the reason we should not let them vote. 🤷‍♂️

In Jerusalem for a few days for @NatConTalk. Speaking to Israelis and Americans last night, they are astounded at the idiocy of Britain’s position on Israel. The UK faces serious threats from Islamist terrorists both from within and without. Yet instead of leaning into our vital security relationship with Israel, the British government implements unworkable trade sanctions and kicks out a bunch of Israeli diplomats. Meanwhile the Green Party declares that Zionism is racism, further weakening our relationship with Israel and putting British Jews in danger. Israel is engaged in an existential fight against Islamist terrorism on behalf of the West. Yet the British Left pretends this isn’t happening and prefers to focus on signalling to their supporters that they’re on ‘Team Palestine.’ In a choice between waging a misguided moral crusade to garner votes, and keeping our country safe, Burnham et al seem to prefer posturing. From the position of Israel - a nation under constant threat - this is impossible to understand.

People said "how can the Lords reject/delay something the Commons wants: isn't that un-democratic?" But the Commons, presented with the same bill, and having heard the Lords, thought again and voted it down. Ours is a deliberative democracy: argument, reason, checks & balance.

Britain, you’re being taken for a ride. Don’t stand for it.
Labour is blatantly targeting Reform UK in its elections bill. Meanwhile the real threat to democracy is 2.5 million non-British citizens able to vote; flagrant abuse of postal voting; and widespread ‘family voting’. Reform UK will end all this.

This is so true! My tips for women who want to get into journalism: Don’t get forced into covering “women’s issues”. Don’t bake cookies and cake for the men in your office. They will never take you seriously.

“Many people get into car accidents having not taken out car insurance, giving them limited legal protections. Labour is consulting on ways to give them your money instead, because no one should be punished for refusing to manage their own life responsibly like a normal adult”
Many unmarried, cohabiting couples have limited legal protections if their relationship ends or a partner dies, even after long-term relationships or raising children together. Labour is consulting on reforms to strengthen the legal protections available to these couples.

Neither Labour nor the Tories has space for their patriotic, populist core - the ‘family, community, country’ tribe that once dominated both parties. They sometimes mouth the rhetoric, but the reality is sterile managerialism at the expense of these vital things, and a sneering contempt for the people who dare to believe in them. Reform UK now represents both wings of this tribe: the radical conservative tradition of left and right. Today’s results are the latest, but not the last, cry of revolt, and a call for a politics of home, neighbourhood and nation.
A bloodbath in our historic heartlands is a threat to the soul of our party. Britain is broken and Labour - the historic party of the working class - is now a stand-in for the failed political establishment. 1/5

Has any other British politician highlighted the cybersecurity risks from new AI models like this? I am surprised (but pleased!) to see this from Reform before anyone else.
I've written to Cabinet Office Minister Darren Jones to urge the Government to engage with AI firm Anthropic whose new frontier model Claude Mythos could present catastrophic cybersecurity risks to the UK
