🎯 Russia is a failed nation, a terror state, a mafia pretending to be a country, a people infected with an imperial virus, a gas station with nukes that barely has any gas left, a Chinese vassal that needs perpetual war to stay intact. It should be quarantined, not elevated.
This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China.

1. Update from Tirana: Rama has had three rambling speeches in three days. He says he won't quit; rioters will be quashed by police force. The rioters say they won't quit until he does. Seven days of street battles, destruction of public buildings/infrastructre, some businesses.

Huge development: VV and LDK agree to nominate the non-partisan jurist and former diplomat Bekim Sejdiu for President of Kosovo.
Sejdiu served as Kosovo's first Ambassador to Turkey, Consul General in New York, and a Constitutional Court Judge. He lectures at the Faculty of Law.

President Zelenskyy’s visit to Serbia is important. Dialogue is always welcome, particularly when it creates space to address difficult questions with clarity, responsibility and a sense of history.
Just as Albania stands, and will continue to stand, firmly with Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and European future, we stand equally firmly for Kosovo’s sovereignty, independence and rightful place in the Euro-Atlantic family.
There should be no misunderstanding on this point: any attempt to draw a parallel or establish an equation between Kosovo and any other international situation is wrong, opportunistic and profoundly misleading.
Kosovo’s case stands on its own historical, political and legal foundations. At the request of the UN General Assembly, the International Court of Justice was unequivocal: Kosovo’s declaration of independence did not violate international law. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is an entirely different matter. It constitutes a grave violation of the UN Charter and international law, and a blatant breach of the rules-based international order.
From Albania’s perspective, one principle is fundamental: a peaceful, stable and European Western Balkans requires acceptance of the reality and irreversibility of Kosovo’s independence. Kosovo independence has contributed to regional stability and is part of a future in which borders are not changed through force, and peoples and communities can determine their future in peace and security.
We firmly maintain also that Serbia and Kosovo both belong in a common European future. The normalisation of their relations, ultimately leading to mutual recognition, would not weaken Serbia. On the contrary, it would help close one of the most painful chapters of our region’s recent history and open the way to genuine reconciliation, good-neighbourly relations and lasting peace. The Western Balkans needs that positive energy today, perhaps more than ever.
President Zelenskyy’s visit to Serbia advances, first and foremost, Ukraine’s interests. This is both understandable and legitimate. Yet, every step that helps Serbia move further away from Russia’s malign influence and closer to Europe is positive. But every engagement is also an opportunity to advance a fundamental understanding: the Western Balkans must move forward, not backward.

Statement from Albanians for America (AFA) on Recent Protests in Albania
Albanians for America (AFA) is closely following the ongoing public protests surrounding proposed tourism and development projects along Albania's southern coastline, including the discussions related to Zvërnec.
As an organization committed to strengthening the ties between the United States and the Albanian people, we believe it is important to reaffirm a principle that should not be lost in the current debate: the concerns being expressed by citizens are not a rejection of American investment, nor are they a rejection of international partnerships.
Albanians have long welcomed American engagement and continue to view the United States as one of Albania's closest and most trusted partners.
Responsible foreign investment can create jobs, expand economic opportunities, strengthen local communities, and contribute to Albania's long-term prosperity. At the same time, sustainable development requires transparency, accountability, and meaningful public engagement.
Citizens have a legitimate right to seek clarity about projects that may affect protected natural areas, local communities, cultural heritage, and the future character of Albania's coastline. The question before Albania is larger than any single investment project. It is about how decisions of national importance are made, how communities are consulted, and how economic development can be balanced with environmental stewardship and the rule of law.
AFA believes that strong democracies are built when institutions listen to citizens, when public concerns are addressed openly, and when major development initiatives are guided by clear, transparent, and predictable processes. These principles are not obstacles to investment but the foundation of long-term investor confidence and sustainable economic growth.
As Albania continues its path toward European integration, public trust will be strengthened through open decision-making, accountable governance, and respect for democratic participation. We support economic development, investment, and opportunity. We also believe that lasting progress is achieved when development is pursued with transparency, respect for communities, and careful consideration of Albania's unique natural and environmental heritage.
The future of Albania should be shaped through dialogue, accountability, and institutions that serve the public interest.
AFA encourages constructive dialogue among government institutions, local communities, civil society organizations, independent experts, and investors to ensure that decisions affecting Albania's future are made transparently, responsibly, and in a manner that serves the interests of the Albanian people.

Replying to @SenSanders
@SenSanders
With all due respect, Senator, Albania is a country, not a line in an American political argument.
I genuinely appreciate your interest, but the facts on the ground are rather different from the headlines. And when headlines become the source of understanding, half-truths have a tendency to grow into bigger and bigger lies by the day, amplified by the very platforms about whose distortive power you have spent so much time raising public awareness.
(The fewer than 10,000 protesters somehow becoming 100,000 in your post is perhaps the least harmful amplification of outrage among many.)
There is still no approved project, no construction permit and no final design. What exists today is a planning process involving some of the world's leading architects, landscape designers, environmental experts and social-impact consultants, working on a vision for high-end sustainable tourism with measurable environmental gains, more green space, more trees and stronger biodiversity outcomes.
Disagreement is legitimate.
Environmental scrutiny is welcome.
That is how democracies should work.
But declaring something an environmental disaster before it even exists is something else entirely.
What rises on Albania's coast will be decided by our vision, our laws, our institutions and debated by our own people. But it will never become hostage to the fear of dreaming big, thinking big and investing big.
Our challenge is not to choose between nature and development, but to prove that nature can be regenerated and development can be reinvented by building with nature rather than against it, for the benefit of both people and the environment.
We welcome serious investors who come to build, create jobs, raise living standards and respect our rules. What we do not need is imported outrage, ideological reflexes or the transformation of Albania into a prop in somebody else's political theatre.
Facts first. Always.
Because Albania is not a backdrop for foreign political battles.
It is a small but a proud free country making its own choices and determining its own future.
And with all this being said, I hope you will remember Albania even after the headlines move on. Better yet, I hope you will come and see for yourself our beautiful country, which is rising to the historic challenge of becoming soon a proud member of the European Union, where no project affecting nature can move forward without meeting some of the strictest environmental standards, assessments and legal requirements.
That is precisely why we should trust facts, institutions and due process more than headlines, assumptions and viral outrage.
And perhaps because you have spent so many years warning about the dangers of misinformation, you might also appreciate that reality deserves at least the same chance to be heard as the stories told about it.
Let me say that all this is a good reason to invite you to be our guest in Albania, where as engraved in the ancient Albanian Code of Honor, our houses belong to God and the Guest.

In tiny Albania, over a hundred thousand people have been in the streets against an environmentally disastrous luxury resort planned by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and his Qatari billionaire partners.
This is what global oligarchy looks like — and the people are saying NO.

Public information alleging that a Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia has been a collaborator of Serbian intelligence services raises serious concerns for a NATO member state.
If true, this would mean that information and internal processes from a NATO government may have been exported to a non-NATO country closely aligned with Russia.
This is a matter of national security, institutional integrity, and trust within the Euro-Atlantic alliance.
The allegations require urgent, transparent and professional clarification by the competent authorities.
