There are ~ 7K rare diseases and it is estimated that 1/10 Americans has a rare disease.
The avg prevalence threshold is 40-50/100,000, meaning #narcolepsy is one of the more common of the rare diseases.

My OB-GYN didn’t ask for consent or give a warning before both giving an incredibly painful physical exam and completely dismissing my pain/ symptoms. As an SA survivor and person with chronic illnesses that were chronically dismissed, I am shocked and traumatized.
