Is it just me, or is our decline accelerating? Governments, whether municipal, provincial or federal are blatantly ignoring the voters, and no one seems to care.

Thank you to the Ward 11 residents and Calgarians from across the city who joined my budget town hall for a robust discussion about Calgary’s priorities.
There was overwhelming support for focusing on core services, along with serious concerns about tax increases and the pressure on household budgets.
Calgarians work hard for their money. It’s our responsibility on Council to ensure we’re spending it wisely, putting needs before wants and delivering the services residents rely on.
I’ll be bringing that message to budget deliberations. Thank you for making your voices heard.

Shocked, Outraged, Pissed Off!
What words would you use when finding out we paid one person almost $2M on a water report and then double your Water Bill?
McLeod Trail south Calgary has one of the most ghetto @Walmart ‘s I’ve ever seen.
Once again, almost all foreigners working there. Gross, dirty and poorly stocked. Check outs are a complete gong show with them all speaking anything but English.
Oh, and the surplus of junkies outside or hiding in the washroom is next level.
That area also brings in a very interesting range of customers spanning from the geriatrics of the aging communities to the skids from low income housing.
What an absolute cesspool…. And I’ve been in a West Virginian Walmart on the first payday of the month when all the hillbillies come flocking down from the hills.

There's no goddamn way a 66 year old man worked 45 hours a week, every week, for a solid 9 months.
This alone should result in clawback and lawsuit repayment of the fraudulent billing / time theft on behalf of Calgary taxpayers.

Have you considered redirecting funding spent on DEI team and the non-criminal report hate program?

Council has clearly mucked up. @JeromyYYC - please dial down the council noise accusing the Province of overstepping. The people who live here want bike lanes thoughtfully managed. Your council is ignoring us. I talk to hundreds on this.
Keep pressing @DanWMcLean !!

Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Dan Williams is asked about the City of Calgary paying $1.7M to the chair of Bearspaw independent review panel. He says the report uncovered "devastating concerns" with how the city's water system was managed.

That’s the crux of it we paid billions under the guise of « maintenance fees » and it was spent on bike lanes, public art, mental health supports, land to give away & a myriad of other wants over needs. #yyccc & admin misled us for years. Now we are paying through nose for it

This is insane.
🚨🚨New personal record for Carney:
Carney and entourage drop $175,000 on airplane food during one international trip.
Beef tenderloin with demi-glace sauce.
Veal escalope with lemon and capers.
Truffle risotto.
Seabass fillet.
Crème brûlée.
That’s what Carney and his entourage ate on one trip to China, Qatar and Davos.
The bill: $175,248 for airplane food.
That’s his most expensive airplane food trip yet.
"Spend less" lol

Meanwhile, we still have questions AND we're stuck with the bill. How's your trust level?
Consider this, Calgary!

NEW: After a council vote yesterday, the City of Calgary has released the costs behind the $2.3M budget for the independent panel review of the 2024 Bearspaw feeder main break.
$2.276M was spent on paying the panel including more than $1.7M for the panel chair.

I had to Vote No to the Huge Utility Bill increase because I agree with the Chamber of Commerce that it would SEVERELY impact Calgary Residents and Businesses.
I believe we could’ve looked at alternatives like:
-Pause the hike until we see if we get some infrastructure support from the Province or Federal government in upcoming budgets.
-Stretch out the spending and cost recovery over a longer period of time.
-Reduce or Pause some of the Huge projected infrastructure dollars for the Prairie Economic Gateway project
-Take the Cities utility dividend and put it into water pipes instead of General Revenue
-Sell some Cities assets which are Enormous
Sadly the utility hikes passed Council today by a vote of 9 to 6 so now more than ever Council must look at ways to reduce the proposed double digit Property Tax Increase.

Yesterday, I voted AGAINST a 74% increase for Calgarians water bills.
Unfortunately, Council passed this water bill hike in a 9-6 vote.
At a time when life is becoming increasingly unaffordable, this water utility increase is too much too fast. While I recognize the need for improved water infrastructure, especially with the many water main failures in Ward 1, more work needed to be done to identify other ways to secure funding before raising costs for Calgarians.
My unanswered questions regarding the potential of using the federal housing accelerator funding for water infrastructure indicate that not every avenue has been adequately explored before raising water bills for Calgarians.
I will continue to fight for Calgarians to have infrastructure that is both affordable and reliable.
