THE KILLER FACILITY THAT KISUMU’S JOOTRH LEVEL SIX HOSPITAL HAS BECOME 🔻 The @jootrhkisumu was upgraded to Level 6 in June 2025 and sold to Nyanza and Western Kenya as a medical masterstroke. 16 months later, the facility is killing people through neglect. 🔻 Last year, I lost my dear sister from there. The lesser said the better. CS @HonAdenDuale & esp the arrogant PS @fnoluga knows my pain with him. He ignored my calls/messages. I’ll forever appreciate DG @DrPatrickAmoth for positively intervening with JOOTRH’s failed management. The most incompetent and incompetent Joshua Okise (ostensibly protected by Oluga) should resign and allow a competent person to run JOOTRH. Let me talk of other Kenyans. Thanks @StandardKenya for this important story. JOOTRH is a total mess. Disgrace. A place people are referred to die! 🔻 Winnie Otieno, 41, mum of 3, was told to find blood herself. When the hospital responded, her husband returned to find another patient in his wife's bed. He found her body on a trolley by the toilets, covered with a bedsheet. 🔻 A nurse reportedly arrived at 2am for a patient convulsing since 9pm. He was later diagnosed with a stroke. 🔻 A woman who could not walk spent hours in a wheelchair, "no bed available," and died the moment a bed finally opened. 🔻 Ward Two's broken windows are patched with cardboard, with bedridden patients exposed to cold air at night. 🔻 A man waited nearly a week for a nurse to attend him. Another was told to wait two months for surgery. 🔻 Families bought Mackintosh sheets and sent them to Kisumu, because they were afraid to ask nurses for anything. 🔻 This is not a story of tired staff and a few bad nights. A national referral hospital is rationing blood, beds, dignity and basic nursing care, and families fear that complaining will make things worse. 🔻 Even the PS for Medical Services Dr Oluga admits "we are not blind to some complaints." That is an admission of a systemic failure. 🔻 Level 6 status is a legal and budgetary promise. It is not a signboard. 🔻 A hospital where patients die waiting for beds, blood and a nurse is not a referral facility. It is a death trap with a ribbon-cutting. 🔻 Investigations are not enough.
