Every time I buy something from Japan, I'm always amazed by how thoughtful the packaging is and how high quality the products are. It's a whole new standard. But doing business with the Japanese is quite the opposite. They move extremely slowly and are misaligned with the realities of modern delivery speeds. I can't, for the love of God, figure out why that is.

In Shinto and Zen there are two timeframes, the present moment, and eternity, and how those two timeframes intersect. It's hard to be peaceful and thoughtful if you are in a big hurry.

facts, I think cyber is about to go into a singularity
In the long run, AI is going to make software so much more capable, and so much more secure. And reliable. But before that ...

Today, Coherence is announcing their $45M Series A from Founders Fund and OpenAI. Topology was lucky to be Coherence’s first US institutional investor and co-lead their Seed round. Thrilled for Ben, Elise and the team.

Be a billionaire. But a home in Miami so it looks like you live there. Obtain a secure burner phone so your location can’t be traced. Put all close employees on an NDA. Secretly work over 183 days in California without letting on you’re doing so. Easily evade the state stealing your money by calling you a resident. Profit.

I'm told if we cover an area the size of the state of texas with solar panels, we pretty much have it solved.

I apply Darwinistic fitness function which is total energy cost (this depends on your frame of reference) vs total increase in energy capture. Energy could be measured in joules, kcal, watts or dollars or your choice.

This is more of a mindst/rubric than it is a science, but it could be made into a science. This rubric implies that DNA either is or contains intelligence though. You could look at that as either a bug or a feature of the rubric.

Fun is very subjective. Some people find getting punched in the head repeatedly fun ser.

p(China) is what we should be talking about, not p(doom) What is the probability that China - with its lead in robotics, manufacturing, construction capability, and second place on AI, GPUs, innovation - will become the primary beneficiary of the technological revolution the world is experiencing, over the next decades? If your p(China) is high, what are you doing - and what should we be doing - to advance US capabilities in the coming decades so that we can lead, not follow? IMHO p(doom) is the sideshow

I think this is correct, and I believe that models will invent very very large vocabularies to more efficiently communicate without the need to speak human languages either
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.
