Microsoft offering buyouts to 60,000 employees should be concerning to everyone. Remember this when they tell you data centers are going to create jobs

Just doing some initial deep research on Folic Acid which will be mandatory for bakers in the UK to add to non wholemeal flour in bread. Do you know the biggest producer of Folic Acid? German chemicals giant BASF. Their largest shareholder? Larry Fink's Blackrock!

They’re not laughing now. They said leasehold could never become a top-tier political issue. It was too technical. Not sexy like planning reform. Westminster didn’t care. That’s what they told me when I set up the campaign in 2023. Yesterday, the prescribed rates for extending a lease or buying the freehold (!!) became a national political talking point on Laura Kuenssberg’s show on BBC One, with @AngelaRayner struggling to bat back the detail. There we go. An issue supposedly too technical for Westminster to care about is now being put directly to the Housing Secretary and a former deputy prime minister on the biggest political show in the country. Those of us in the five million households living under leasehold are not here to be smirked at or palmed off. Service charges are soaring and more and more leasehold homes are becoming unmortgageable and unsellable because of the greed and corruption of feudal-style freeholders and their managing agents. The old politics of spin, silence, word salad and cosy relationships between journalists and those in power doesn’t work like it used to. In this new information age, traditional media gatekeepers are being forced to respond to campaigners like us. And if they don’t cover the story, we make our own with vertical videos and briefings. So, Secretary of State, can you give leaseholders a cast-iron guarantee that the costs of extending their lease or buying their freehold will fall under the government’s reforms? Labour is abandoning its manifesto promise to end the leasehold system. In opposition, Labour warned that governments could be “lobbied by vested interests” into setting enfranchisement rates “that will be punitive for leaseholders”. @mtpennycook himself tabled amendments to the legislation that became the 2024 Act, seeking to make premiums “as cheap as possible for leaseholders”. Yet in a consultation that Ministers had refused to publicise, and which closed on Wednesday, we find the U-turn buried in the detail: “... it is not intended to use prescribed rates in and of themselves, as a means of further reducing premiums for leaseholders”. The policy on enfranchisement rates is now merely to: “... reduce the potential for dispute and provide certainty for leaseholders, freeholders and professionals as to what to expect from this part of the enfranchisement process.” How convenient for the freeholder lobby. This is a huge political story, picked up last week by The Times, POLITICO and Guido Fawkes. No wonder Pennycook has taken to X to dismiss scrutiny of the government’s quiet betrayal of leaseholders as “misinformation”, as though The Times were some Russian bot account. They said leasehold could never become a major political issue. We’ve made it one. And we’re not going away. Every attempt to water down reform, every delay and every broken promise will face fierce scrutiny and carry an ever-higher political cost until they @FreeLeasehlders.
HUGE political story. Rayner is rattled. Labour are betraying their manifesto promise to end leasehold. @mtpennycook is ditching his own “guiding principle” from opposition: lowest possible premiums for leaseholders, for much cheaper lease extensions and freehold buy-outs.

Are the Torygraph morons, or do they just assume their readers are morons? Not mentioning Leasehold in an article about the flat-price-crash is either the worst journalism, or worst gaslighting of the year
Leasehold isn't mentioned at all in the entire article. Gaslighting of the highest order. telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

This is horrific! Hard to believe mRNA vaccines are still being used widely in the uk. They're cheaper to produce, so draw ur own conclusions as to why these developments are being ignored
“The World Health Organization” now states on its website: “COVID-19 vaccination can cause multiple sclerosis due to cross-reactive CD4+ T cells that recognize the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and myelin peptides.” In other words, your own immune system destroys the nerve pathways and then attacks your brain and spinal cord. This data was available during the lockdowns but was labeled as a “conspiracy theory” and censored by social media.

York cobblestones. 2006 vs 2026. Well maintained in 2006. Can’t be arsed to maintain properly and just plaster with tarmac patches in 2026. British civic pride decay in a nutshell.

In a world without commerce you survive on rations & shelter by the mercy of an elite. All movement and discussion is restricted and monitored. Anyone who mentioning the bygone notion of social mobility loses food & shelter privileges. Feudalism You own nothing when you're owned
The ultimate AI hallucination is the belief that an economy can prosper after making its consumers unemployed and broke.

Politicians have been saying the world is one thing while actively shaping it into something else. The world is a cheap magic trick, and most people would rather believe that David Copperfield can fly than face his reality of carefully laid wires and distracting stage lights.
NATO bombed Serbian tobacco factories in 1999. Sounds strange. Why bomb tobacco? Not military targets. Not critical infrastructure. Just factories making cigarettes. Then Philip Morris showed up. Rebuilt those same facilities. Modernized the equipment. Brought them up to international production standards. Today you can buy cigarettes made in Serbia under Philip Morris brands in Australia, Europe, everywhere. Serbia became a major exporter. So let's think about this. NATO bombs the factories. Philip Morris rebuilds them and profits from the production capacity. Who benefited from that bombing? Same pattern with Microsoft. Right after the bombing stopped, big Microsoft headquarters opens in Belgrade city center. I remember walking past that building and seeing their logo up there. Didn't take long. The bombing was illegal under international law. That's not opinion. No UN Security Council approval. Violated the NATO charter itself. But they did it anyway. Then Western corporations moved in while the rubble was still being cleared. I lived through it. I watched it happen. And 25 years later I'm still asking the same question: who were they really fighting for?

Absolute bombshell. Col. Macgregor predicts Putin has already delivered a terrifying ultimatum to Netanyahu: If Israel dares to use a nuclear weapon in the Middle East, Russia will drop a nuclear weapon on Israel. The US has no idea what it just walked into.

One of the best movies this country ever produced. Script is potty mouth poetry, direction gives the gangster tropes a sublime arthouse spin, and Kingsley... how did he not get the Oscar? There's never been a better screen performance. Ever.

I saw this on the rolling news! It was a ridiculously one sided story. Whether one believes in wealth tax or not, the bbc remit is to provide balanced journalism. This, as we too often now see from the Beeb, wasn't balanced - wasn't journalism.
California is considering bringing in a billionaire tax, BBC News saying ‘it’s a bad idea because they might leave’ the media is there to protect the 1%.
