I had a few tears watching this. I used to be an addict. Nearly took my life. This should be mandatory watching in every school.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. There are a lot of reasons to be pessimistic about parts of the European ecosystem, but in general, the euro pessimism narrative is wildly oversold.
Look at the post below. Yesterday, we reported that Europe’s four biggest mobile operators 🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇬🇧are exploring a joint bid to take on Starlink: phones connected straight to satellites, no tower needed. The replies came on cue: “Europe can’t launch. Europe has no satellites. Europe has no money. SpaceX has no competition. Period.” We hear this every time Europe talks about tech independence. But are they right? 👇 ❌ “Europe can’t launch.” ✅ True, SpaceX launches far more: 165 Falcon 9 flights in 2025. That gap is real. But even Amazon booked 24 launches on Europe’s Ariane 6 for its own Starlink rival. Ariane 6 has already put 100 of its satellites in orbit. In September, @isaraerospace, a German 🇩🇪 startup, reached orbit. At the same time, Europe’s first reusable rocket prototype is on its pad in Sweden 🇸🇪. And the @esa has put €900M+ behind a new generation of rockets. That’s more than twice the ~$400M NASA gave SpaceX to develop Falcon 9 and its Dragon capsule. What will happen to American launchers once these are operational? ❌ “Europe doesn’t build satellites.” ✅ Galileo, Europe’s GPS, is the most precise satellite navigation system in the world. Over 4.5 billion devices use it. Probably yours too. Finland’s 🇫🇮 @iceye_global runs the world’s largest fleet of radar satellites, which see through clouds and at night. @Thales_Alenia_S, in Turin, Italy 🇮🇹, built over half of the International Space Station’s living space. It also built the current satellites of Iridium, the American satellite-phone network. @AirbusSpace, @ThalesAerospace and @LDO_Space are merging their space businesses into one 25,000-strong champion. And IRIS², the EU’s own 348-satellite network, is moving to full deployment of its governments and defence infrastructure. If Europe has “nothing”, why are NASA’s astronauts living in it and your phone navigating with it? ❌ “Europe doesn’t have the money.” ✅ EU households keep €12 trillion in cash and bank deposits. That’s more than Nvidia and Apple, the world’s two most valuable companies, combined. Enough to buy SpaceX five times over. On top of that, Europeans hold $8 trillion in US stocks and bonds. For now. Because something has changed. Every year, €300bn of European savings leaves the EU. Europe is done watching it go: it has started building a single market for savings and investment, so that European money grows European companies. Some, like Danish 🇩🇰 pension funds, have already started dumping US government bonds. What will happen the day Europe offers a real alternative to American financial markets? ❌ “Europe is years behind on innovation.” ✅ 3 of the last 4 Nobel laureates in physics were born in Europe 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇧🇪. All three did their prize-winning work at American universities. The world’s first microprocessor, the chip that became the brain of every computer, was designed at Intel by an Italian 🇮🇹: Federico Faggin. Google’s AI lab, DeepMind, was born in London 🇬🇧. OpenAI was co-founded by scientists born in Poland 🇵🇱 and Slovakia 🇸🇰. Now Washington is cutting research funding, and applications from US-based scientists to the European Research Council have more than doubled. The EU has proposed doubling its budget too. Europe’s red tape can be cut with a vote. Can America win back the trust it has destroyed by threatening, humiliating and insulting its allies? ❌ “Europe needs America more than America needs Europe.” ✅ Look closer. In April, NASA flew astronauts around the Moon for the first time in over 50 years. The module that powered their spacecraft, pushed it to the Moon and kept them alive was European, assembled in Bremen, Germany 🇩🇪. NASA’s Webb telescope launched on a European Ariane 5, so precisely that its fuel should last about 20 years instead of 10. And the world’s most advanced AI chips can only be made with machines from one company: ASML, in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. We’ve seen this film before. In 1970, American planemakers ruled the skies. Europeans pooled their strengths and built Airbus. Airbus has out-delivered Boeing every year since 2019. The US just turned 250. The University of Bologna, in Italy, was founded in 1088, 938 years ago. Europe has been written off many times. Those trying to convince Europeans we can’t stand on our own forget who gave the world the Renaissance, the scientific revolution, the welfare state and the World Wide Web, born at CERN in Geneva 🇨🇭. Betting against Europe isn’t analysis - it’s hubris. And that arrogance is pushing European public opinion towards one conclusion: we’re done with America. One day, those repeating “weak, dependent Europe” will wake up to a Europe running on its own rockets, satellites, capital and talent. That day is closer than they think. 🇪🇺

Meet "the yen, onchain." Most of onchain finance runs on the dollar. JPY DeFi gives the yen its own rails. Mint it against $ETH, @LidoFinance 's $wstETH, and $USDC permissionlessly. For traders, builders, researchers & funds. app.jpydf.com/

I wrote code. Now I face 45 years in prison because others misused it. Code that no one controls. Code that no one can change or shut down. Yet somehow, I’m being held responsible for what others chose to do with it.
I feel like the whole BoA money laundering thing should be talked about, but what's left to say? I spent a year in prison for not filling out a form around selling Bitcoin and got in trouble because someone two degrees separate from me allegedly used it to launder funds. The amount in question was around $30k. BoA launders $5b and has to give one fifth of it back to the government. No jail for anyone. This is America.

On to the next challenge 🫡
Big congratulations to the @zksync airbender team for this milestone. At this point, I consider the battle for speed to be definitively won, and the top priority for zkEVMs should shift fully to security. To me that means formally verifying (i) equivalence of the arithmetization to the ethereum spec (ii) a hard maximum bound on (prover cost) / (amount of gas in block) (iii) security of the proof system itself firefly.social/post/x/211001…

If @Ethereum had a “standard” for building L2s, @Arbitrum in its current form would not exist today @Optimism would’ve been likely king-made, and any kind of talent moat there is today would’ve never existed Death to the ETH cabal Long live Ethereum
Ironically, I still think the L2 roadmap was directionally correctly. It was the execution that was premature. The rollup centric roadmap would have been infallible if it was initiated after we had a well established technical standard for L2s the same way we have for so many ERCs. Unfortunately, even today, such a standard doesn’t exist. Primarily because it’s such a hard problem to scale computation without increasing the cost or barrier to verify that computation. It’s very telling to me that the rollup teams themselves don’t trust their own proving systems enough to remove security councils. Ultimately, novel proving systems are very hard and economic safety quorums are easy. That’s why there are so many alt L1s that scale through hardware, but so few that innovate on how computation is verified. The funny part is that Ethereum itself is leading on this front with plans to SNARKify mainnet. So we’ve basically come full circle back to where we should have started!

I'm a Ethereum maxi, not a decentralization maxi. I believe the world needs only one fully decentralized / permissionless / trustless blockchain, and that is Ethereum. Every other chain -- whether they are stage 0/1/2, trusted, trustless, centralized, semi-centralized, etc. -- can and should be built on Ethereum. In fact, the beauty of Ethereum is precisely that because it's itself maximally decentralized, other systems of various degrees of centralization can be built on top, and that they can interop with each other through Ethereum. As long as these systems provide real value to real people, they will strengthen the network effects of Ethereum and bring in more users and liquidity into the overall Ethereum ecosystem, which ultimately leads to a stronger L1 and stronger ETH. Ethereum is the only credibly neutral, global settlement layer of the world. We are the hub. Let's celebrate the nodes that connect to us.
Ethereum really went from 'protect individuals from the evils of corporations' to 'protect corporations from the evils of decentralization' in two generations of builders or less

The IMF is slowly discovering Ethereum
More than half of trading in tokenized equities takes place outside regular market hours. The demand for 24/7 access is real. The challenge is building markets that are also deep, liquid, and resilient. Learn more in our GFSR chapter on tokenization: imf.org/en/publications/gfsr…

I told you couple months ago I am becoming increasingly bullish on Ethereum as technology. This is insane. 1 of the most important milestone in whole crypto imho. Unlike other tech developments this can also help to ETH directly a lot.
Atomic synchronous composability is no longer a promise. History made on mainnet: the first atomic cross-chain L1->L2 transaction ever 🔥 And this is only the beginning for EEZ ... 🚀 @etheconomiczone

How are exchanges tokenizing stocks? - Coinbase: on Base, an ETH L2 - Robinhood: on Robinhood Chain, an ETH L2 - Kraken: on Ink, an ETH L2 And today: - OKX + ICE, on X Layer, an ETH L2 With L2s, exchanges own the rails and connect to the largest public blockchain: Ethereum.
NYSE parent @ICE_Markets and @okx's 50/50 joint venture, OKXICE, has notified the SEC of plans to launch a tokenized securities venue under the agency's temporary Innovation Exemption. The proposed venue would offer retail and institutional investors 24/7 secondary trading in tokenized US NMS stocks through @Uniswap v4 liquidity pools on @XLayerOfficial, an @ethereum L2. Access is permissioned through KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, whitelisting and wallet-bound credentials, while the underlying chain remains public and permissionless. The tokens are intended to represent one-for-one security entitlements to underlying shares held through a broker-dealer. The notice lists 64 proposed stocks, including NVIDIA, Tesla and Apple, paired with USDC, USDG or USDT. Ethereum is the home of onchain finance.

Eth L1 has 57% of all tokenized BTC and 95% of all tokenized gold. Imagine thinking this won't also reflect in stocks as the landscape matures
Tokenized stock volume is almost all broker IOUs on broker chains. Companies tokenizing their own shares will not do it that way. They will use Ethereum mainnet (the commons), or an L2 they run themselves--a "company town" with a guaranteed open-gate.

We did it: The EU Parliament continues to OPPOSE #ChatControl 2.0! 🥳 Thanks everyone for writing to representatives. 🫶 The next trilogue is scheduled for November, we must make sure that end-to-end encryption and private communication remains to be protected! #privacy
🚨🇪🇺 The #ChatControl trilogue starts on Tuesday & the EU Council is trying to pressure Parliament into giving up its opposition. We must stop them once again! 💪🏼 Ahead of tomorrow’s final CSAR trilogue, leaked Council documents suggest a proposed compromise around so-called "search plans". These would allow authorities ask providers to scan broad groups of users or entire services for extended periods. This isn't targeted policing, it is mass surveillance! It's crucial that the EU Parliament remains strong and keeps up their opposition. Because no matter the framing, the truth remains the same: There's no backdoor for the good guys only! We at Tuta will continue to fight for your right to #privacy. Make your voice heard as well, today is the day! ➡️ fightchatcontrol.eu/
