"Terrific response"? Jesus: Go and make disciples of all nations. Cdl. Vesco: Actually, don't. Bp. Barron: Hey, that guy opposes the Great Commission. Cdl. Vesco: Correct.
Terrific response by Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco to @BishopBarron disgraceful attack on his integrity. Vesco speaks from the Church, Barron for himself.

The Church would be better served by far less turgid documents and more simple, spiritual acts of mercy by many in the leadership - outside the limelight. If they are up to the task. And I'm not referring to Pope Leo here.
“Beatings will continue until morale improves” is a cynical phrase passed around offices worldwide. I thought about it when reading Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández’s interview about his new document. On @Crux cruxnow.com/news-analysis/20…

Pathetic, but hardly surprising. Of course, this merely proves @BishopBarron's point in his blunt but entirely accurate post a couple of days ago. John Paul II, 35 years ago, in Crossing the Threshold of Faith, politely but clearly pointed out the stark differences between Catholicism and Islam. And the future Benedict XVI, in "Dominus Iesus," clearly denounced this sort of relativism when it comes to evangelization. First, JPII: "Whoever knows the Old and New Testaments, and then reads the Koran, clearly sees the process by which it completely reduces Divine Revelation. It is impossible not to note the movement away from what God said about Himself, first in the Old Testament through the Prophets, and then finally in the New Testament through His Son. In Islam all the richness of God's self-revelation, which constitutes the heritage of the Old and New Testaments, has definitely been set aside. Some of the most beautiful names in the human language are given to the God of the Koran, but He is ultimately a God outside of the world, a God who is only Majesty, never Emmanuel, God-with-us. Islam is not a religion of redemption. There is no room for the Cross and the Resurrection. Jesus is mentioned, but only as a prophet who prepares for the last prophet, Muhammad. There is also mention of Mary, His Virgin Mother, but the tragedy of redemption is completely absent. For this reason not only the theology but also the anthropology of Islam is very distant from Christianity." And Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, then Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith: "'Indeed, God -desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth' (1 Tim 2:4); that is, God wills the salvation of everyone through the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is found in the truth. Those who obey the promptings of the Spirit of truth are already on the way of salvation. But the Church, to whom this truth has been entrusted, must go out to meet their desire, so as to bring them the truth. Because she believes in God's universal plan of salvation, the Church must be missionary”‌. Inter-religious dialogue, therefore, as part of her evangelizing mission, is just one of the actions of the Church in her mission ad gentes. Equality, which is a presupposition of inter-religious dialogue, refers to the equal personal dignity of the parties in dialogue, not to doctrinal content, nor even less to the position of Jesus Christ - who is God himself made man - in relation to the founders of the other religions. Indeed, the Church, guided by charity and respect for freedom, must be primarily committed to proclaiming to all people the truth definitively revealed by the Lord, and to announcing the necessity of conversion to Jesus Christ and of adherence to the Church through Baptism and the other sacraments, in order to participate fully in communion with God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thus, the certainty of the universal salvific will of God does not diminish, but rather increases the duty and urgency of the proclamation of salvation and of conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ." (DI, 22)

I hate to tell you man, that isn't a terrific response, its a confession Barron was right. Vesco doesn't speak "from the Church", Pope Leo does, and he wants people to come to Christ.

In case you were wondering, here's confirmation that all that is important to Austen is ideology, not Catholicism, not the faith. It's runners and riders, it's all politics man.

The Algiers cardinal has squandered any benefit of the doubt he had. He’s squandered any chance of twisting his original words into something salvageable. An utter scandal.
¿Cuál es la misión de la Iglesia en el mundo de hoy? Responde el cardenal Vasco de Algeria (bueno de responde al obispo Barron). Grande.

Jean-Paul Cardinal Vesco does not speak from the Church. This is a complete dereliction of duty, directly denying the Divine mandate given by Christ at the Great Commission and he is open dissent against Vatican II.

The Council of Florence did too.. and the Son of God.
++Vesco: "I believe that believers of the three monotheistic faiths have better things to do than try to convert one another..." This is, in fact, quite some way from being a "terrific response" or "speaking from the Church", as «Dominus Iesus» made abundantly clear 26 years ago!

The Frankies are so bizarre... They avoid Argentina like the plague, as Francis himself... WHY? --- "Great news: Tucho isn't coming with the Pope to Argentina. "The reasons he gives don't seem very credible. What will the real ones be? R.- I explained to the Holy Father that I prefer not to go on this upcoming trip, although I'd very much like to. It's a long one, and I have several pending matters that concern me and are reaching precisely now their point of maturity. On the other hand, I'll have to travel to Argentina shortly afterward for a commitment I took on a long time ago. It's my work style; I don't like to be away for more than five days, and in fact, the month's vacation that corresponds to me, I take it in pieces: five days in June, five days in August… In any case, this changes nothing because the only protagonist is the Pope with the People of God. In the case of Argentina, the protagonist isn't even Pope Francis, but Pope Leo who meets with his People."

Under Cardinal Francis George, a record 16 priests were ordained in Chicago in 2005, marking the Archdiocese's largest ordination class in 20 years. By comparison, the archdiocese, which serves more than 2 million Catholics, ordained just two priests in 2025 and three in 2026.

Bishop Eleganti: The ban on the Latin Mass pilgrimage “borders on hostility toward Catholics loyal to the Pope and orthodox in their faith, and has nothing to do with concern for unity in the Church or with operational difficulties in organizing liturgical celebrations in St. Peter’s Basilica.” permariam.com/p/bishop-elega…

Protestants love persecuting other Protestants.
.@drcrouchback. Wrong in so many ways. Henry,. being an RC, burned Protestants. The law under which the Douay priests were executed was a criminal law against treason, which they all knowingly broke by returning to England as agents of a hostile foreign power.
