A collector spent 30 years collecting baseball wax packs, but never opened one 🫠
While most collectors dream of pulling rare cards, Mike Cirincione spent his time keeping his packs SEALED.
The love for baseball cards started in the 1970s. After returning to the hobby in 1995, he set out on an incredible mission: collecting unopened Topps baseball products from as many years as possible.
But there's a heartwarming reason behind the obsession. Mike deliberately purchased TWO boxes from each year and product type, so that one day each of his two sons could inherit a piece of his lifelong passion.
Over the years, his collection grew to include vintage wax, cello, and rack packs dating back to the 1960s! In 2012, Mike purchased a sealed 1974 Topps Baseball wax box for $3,500. By 2025, similar boxes were regularly selling for $10,000–$12,000.
Yet his most treasured possession isn’t necessarily his most expensive. It’s a sealed 1974 rack pack featuring Tom Seaver, his childhood hero and favorite player.
Despite owning countless packs that could contain legendary rookie cards, Mike has no intention of opening them. He already owns complete sets featuring icons like George Brett and Robin Yount.
For Mike, the real magic isn’t discovering what’s inside. It’s preserving the mystery of what COULD be inside.
One day, his sons will inherit more than just baseball cards. They’ll inherit decades of memories, patience, and their father’s love for the hobby. But they'll most likely rip the packs open or sell off the collection, like many families do when they inherit collections.
Could you resist opening these packs, or would you rip EVERYTHING?

Pending Wisconsin smallmouth state record. #Wisconsin #smallmouth #record
Here's the story. "It was a grindy day, not many fish, but some big ones. Big ones being 5s. I found a small spot with some fish on it and caught back to back 5s. I wanted to get Austin in on the action so I grabbed a rod of his I preferred over the one he was using for that technique, tied on one of my baits and handed Austin the rod. I got him on the spot and said, “cast towards that.” I sat back and watched the biggest blob I’ve ever seen come towards his bait and he hooked up. I have never seen a 7 pound smallmouth so when I netted it for him, I thought that’s what a 7 pounder looks like. I put it on the scale and it went to 9.65. Before it locked, I took the fish off the scale because it had to be wrong. I zeroed the scale out and put it back on and sure enough. 9.65 pounds. We welled it immediately started making calls. We tried to get a fish biologist down to the landing to weigh and certify but 27 calls later, we couldn’t reach a biologist. In order to verify it as a state record under current Wisconsin rules, you have to take the fish. After we discussed, we decided that this fish was well enough above the state record that it was worth getting it on a certified scale. 9.70 on the certified scale. Unbelievable."

27 years ago today, we lost my dad.
Sweetness. The man whose smile could light up a whole city and whose heart never stopped running. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.
What keeps me going is seeing how much you all still love him. The stories, the memories, the way you keep his name and spirit alive… it means everything to our family.
Thank you for never forgetting him. Thank you for carrying his legacy with us all these years.
We’re good down here, Pop. The family’s strong, and your Sweetness lives on in every person you touched.

In the 1985-1986 season they went 50-1 at the Boston Garden in the regular season and playoffs. The best team ever in my opinion.
