Fellow Democrats, You know how frustrating it is when Republicans flatten complex issues like abortion into talking points? That is exactly what the fringe left is doing right now with starvation in Gaza. You deserve to understand the truth. It is complicated, it is painful, and it matters. No, Israel is not intentionally starving Palestinians. What is happening is a flawed attempt to create a new, more secure aid distribution system. It is failing right now, and that failure must be called out. But let’s not mistake growing pains for intent. For decades, aid in Gaza has been administered by UNRWA, a UN agency created in 1949. Over time, it has become deeply entangled with Hamas. They hire the same people. They store weapons in schools. They produce educational materials that teach children to hate Jews. They hide terror tunnels, and evidence shows some members helped plan and even participate in the atrocities of October 7th. UNRWA has also enabled Hamas to divert humanitarian aid, strengthening their grip on power and prolonging the conflict. If you genuinely care about peace and Palestinian lives, you should be demanding an independent aid agency that gets food, water, and medicine to civilians without empowering terrorists. That is what the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is trying to do. But the UN refuses to work with them. Why? Because they want UNRWA reinstated, even though it has been infiltrated by Hamas at every level. Hamas has gone so far as to say they will not agree to a ceasefire unless UNRWA is allowed back in. That is not humanitarianism. That is blackmail. Does this mean Israel is handling the situation well? Absolutely not. Netanyahu’s government owns the failure of the current plan. They should never have started this transition if they were not prepared to execute it without the UN. But let’s be clear. Israel is not trying to starve people. It is trying, badly, to prevent a future where Hamas uses humanitarian aid to rearm and reassert control. When I see Democrats like @SenWarren repeating the claim that there are 6,000 aid trucks ready to go, I am stunned. That is not true. What is true is that the old system is ready to hand that aid directly to Hamas again. That is what Warren is advocating, whether she realizes it or not. It breaks my heart to see Democrats pushing for a return to a status quo where terrorists control the flow of food. Israel needs to do better, and fast. They must get food into Gaza now. But in the long term, this shift away from terrorist-controlled aid is the right goal. Let’s have the courage to hold both truths at once - that people are suffering, and that Hamas cannot be trusted with distributing humanitarian aid. If we are going to stand for peace, we need to start by standing for truth.
