Every smart device in your house is a witness, and none of them work for you.
Your TV reports what you watch. Your wifi signal can reveal when you're typing. Even the cooler wants to be online.
You didn't buy an appliance. You hired an informant.

Got a cheap embroidery machine off amazon for $300 where the biggest complaint is the mandatory $12/mo app that you’re forced to use. Had ChatGPT create its own app that communicates with the machine. Generative art patches incoming!

BTW anyone not using agents like this is falling behind and will inevitably wind up in the permanent underclass.
Why the fuck would you connect a cooler to the internet 🤯
BREAKING:
This morning’s cyberattack against supermarket fridges and freezers has now spread to Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg and Estonia.
The hackers increased the temperature up to 50C. Food worth millions of euros has been spoiled.
Experts warn that such cyberattacks on supply chains and logistics can constitute a threat to national food security in many Western states.

From a global allocation perspective, it’s quite terrible to have all the world’s limited supply of compute, training data, and your private shit sitting in Sam Altman’s data centers while he lectures you about owning your own RAM.

We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again.
Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both
Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard.
It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min.

🚨 NEW: Ofcom says all adults should have to use their ID to access social media.
• Ofcom has recommended four methods for verifying users’ ages ahead of the UK’s ban on social media for under-16s, which is due to come into force in March next year.
• The four methods suggested, subject to government approval, are photo ID matching, banking-based checks, live facial age estimation and digital ID.
• The regulator noted that verifying the ages of 16 and 17-year-olds is challenging because many do not have credit cards, full driving licences or passports.
• Ofcom chief executive Dame Melanie Dawes said the ban can work if firms carry out highly effective age checks, and that the regulator will take action against companies that fail to comply.

‼️ Google won't fix an Android bug that lets one invisible text crash a phone's calling service, researcher Mark Blaszczyk says.
So he just released the Proof-of-Concept!
The malformed message never reaches the inbox and needs no user interaction. It drops active calls, emergency calls included.
He says about 30 sent in a row corrupt the phone's SMS database, so a Pixel 9 or Samsung Galaxy crashes on every boot. A factory reset only helps until the carrier delivers the texts again.
He reported it to Google on 5 May. Google closed it as "Won't Fix" and a "Non-Security Issue".
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Google will fix it as part of the November security update. A fix has already been pushed to AOSP in October, with the first commit in June.
