"COVID arm" is not the thing where your arm is sore for a day or two after getting vaccinated. It's the thing where you wake up a week after getting vaccinated and all of a sudden there's a massive pink bullseye on your tricep that feels hot enough to fry an egg on.

Friday night and my tests from Weds morning are still pending. We need more tools please. People are dying. By 9am this morning first patient died second was getting intubated. More tests=less COVID
There are solutions to this (which WILL get worse)
Distribute the efforts - Allow people to do their own tests - at home
Trust the people to do what’s right
Use public health tools (rapid tests), not medical tools to deal with public a health problem nytimes.com/2020/11/13/nyreg…

Small correction, @soupcoff. @SonaNanotech "saliva" test is awaiting clinical trials and has not been submitted for approval, yet. Their first antigen test was supposed to be in use before June 30, according to NGen funding documents. Some investigation may be warranted.

Of course people taking the placebo die--that is the whole fucking point of the vaccine.

I would tweak the word here to say “a negative result would mean it’s safER to go to work or school”..
safER versus safe is more appropriate. These tests slash risk but not in absolute
Superb article that covers pros/cons/concerns/benefits of available fast frequent rapid tests
#SARSCoV2 testing should be as easy as brushing one’s teeth, says @michaelmina_lab. Frequent rapid testing could be game-changing, says @RWalensky; a negative result would mean it’s safe to go to work or school with basic measures like masks & distancing ja.ma/3mdug9f

We desperately need these rapid tests for infectious covid (not PCR for infected). The rationale and the obstacle (FDA) laid out so well by @michaelmina_lab, @DanLarremore, Roy Parker @CUBoulder in today's @NEJM nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NE…

I’d also say that the primary reason they are not the solution for public health is that in their current format they lack scalability and speed. We just can’t process enough. In the US we have enough PCR capacity for one test per person per year. That’s woefully not enough.

#HDSB trustees are asking for quicker test results, as the new screening model means that the family of a student awaiting results doesn't have to self-isolate. It can take up to 72 hrs to get an initial appt for a test & another 4 days to get the results. insidehalton.com/news-story/…

Those accuracy #s are in-field testing results taking into consideration human error. The lab results were 97%. Note the limit of detection is sensitive meaning it can detect the virus in asymptomatic people from day 1 of infection! This is the game changer! @CTV @CPHO_Canada

@soupcoff Hi Marni, thank you for bringing awareness to @SonaNanotech in today's article for the @nationalpost . Did you know that in the same study where Sona achieved those numbers they also achieved 100% detection for asymptomatic carriers? Sona works well in detecting early!
