Everything NBA. A lot of Hornets. Stats, insights, jokes, heaps of quote-retweets. Theoretically switchable.

As part of a competition with some friends last week, I attempted the very dumb challenge of writing out the names of 3,000 real people (dead or alive) in one sitting It took 7 hours, but I got it done Here's a breakdown of the names I wrote 🧵⬇️

There's nobody like Steph. There's no one in the same zip code as Steph.
In the context of NBA history, dropping 40+ points at 6'2 and 38 years old is literally unheard of. The oldest player other than Steph even under 6'5 to drop 40 is Dame, who had 43 at age 34. Steph has now scored 40 or more 21 times since turning 34, breaking a tie with Michael Jordan for the most such games in league history. (h/t @stathead)

Thread of observations and opinions. 1. Pelicans are trying to appease too many egos. It's beyond clear there are players who are detrimental to the culture and basketball product. Pels can't let fear decide how to manage this. If they cause problems, send them home.

Steph's incredible. This past summer, he saw a video of this kid from Minnesota making a long 3-pointer in a game in his school gym. The crowd went crazy and Wyatt, wearing a Curry jersey, did the night-night celebration! Steph sent him a video and invited him to tonight's game!
After his incredible shot went viral, Wyatt Neus got a special invitation to tonight's game from Stephen Curry 🙌

Got bored. Here’s a Charles Lee highlight reel from Bucknell’s upset win over #3 Kansas in 2005:

It's a week into the season and the NBA is averaging the most possessions per game, shortest average possession length, highest average pickup distance, and most possessions with at least three offensive players crashing in the tracking era. Playing very hard for 82 games!
I am not an injury expert, but I hope the NBA is doing a lot of honest self-assessment with injury experts to determine why this volume of injuries is already occurring.

Matt Barnes' 7-year-old son is 5'2" and wears a size 10 men's shoe… And KG's mind is blown by what "Little Diesel" does on the court 😳🎯 New KG CERTIFIED with Matt Barnes is out now on YouTube.

21 minutes with Trae Young off the court ORTG: 113.41 on -> 102.33 off TOV%: 14% on -> 30.2% off
The Wizards desperately need a ball handler when Trae Young is sitting - the offense is incredibly turnover prone

This is such a better example of “welcome to the NBA” from Joakim Noah than a superstar dunking on him. I wanna hear about how Chris Kaman busted his ass so much more.

Pay attention to Maxey on this pick-and-roll, just a great job of peeling off the ball handler and taking away the passing lane to Mobley

#Rockets matching Reed minutes with Smart and/or Amen. Opposing teams will continue to involve Reed in early shot clock ball screens, and the Rockets will counter by trying to execute scram switches (like below) or hard hedges or blitzes.

Seriously! Look at Kevin Durant make easy work of Gobert here. Same old song and dance on every switch. As a Wolves fan it’s crazy
NBA experts…. explain why Rudy Gobert is the 4 time defensive player of the year and simultaneously a massive liability when he covers anyone with any offensive skills.

LeBron is about to begin his 24th NBA season. To put that longevity in context, had Michael Jordan extended his career that far, he would have faced Kyrie Irving. Bill Russell would have been teammates with Larry Bird. And Bird himself would have faced Amare Stoudemire.
