As someone interested in culinary history and food culture, I thoroughly enjoyed learning what our eating and cooking habits reveal about Nepali society, our identity and the things we are slowly losing as times change.

Listening to the couple’s story, it becomes clear that BunsNSpice - Momo and More is about much more than food. It is about two people who found each other, chose to build a life together and turned their shared passion into a livelihood in a city far from home. Interesting.
An amazing MoMo dokaan in Geneva. I helped the boys when they set it up; I go at least once a week- their jhol is what makes the momo so special. Their chowmein is also a must-try. Momo, mon amour: A Nepali bill of fare — and affair kathmandupost.com/money/2026… via @kathmandupost

I’ve known Mujib for a long time. He’s a wonderful reporter, but I’ve always thought he’s an even more gifted writer. There’s warmth, intimacy and grace to his work. This beautiful profile of Saab, an ordinary man & an extraordinary poet, is a perfect example. A must, must read.
At 92, Gulzar writes with the same discipline that's helped him refine & reinvent his art decade after decade - building an enormous body of work known for its tenderness. This summer, I spent time with him at his Mumbai home for this @nytimes profile: nytimes.com/2026/09/21/world…

Days after Chandika Shrestha’s family carried out her last rites, expecting never to find her body, a faint noise came from a house along the ravaged riverside in northern Nepal. The three-story 🏠 was almost entirely buried...but Ms. Shrestha was alive. nytimes.com/2026/09/05/world…

Two months ago, building one newsroom out of four siloed brands under the same media house felt like a crazy project. This morning: the front page of the English paper carries a story co-bylined by our news chief for television and the Nepali newsroom’s art & culture reporter — edited and published by colleagues at the Kathmandu Post. The fact that it organically happened yesterday gives me so much joy.

“The Global South should not have to watch itself crumble as nations that hoard wealth and power take no meaningful action towards addressing the climate crisis, and instead use their resources to launch wars and enrich shareholders.”
As someone born and raised in Nepal, it's been devastating to watch the news coming out of the region. But what Nepal needs is a global politics of solidarity, not charity.🧵 My full statement: bit.ly/nepal-103

Following the devastation in Himalayas, Sikkim’s #Indigenous Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to halt new hydropower projects in the State and order an independent, time-bound probe into the existing ones. Besides the ones in Sikkim, over a 100 dams are planned in Northeast India which is a high #seismic zone and they must all be scrapped #PrayersForAffected
A body of two ethnic communities in Sikkim has advised the Centre to learn from the flash flood disaster in Nepal and scrap all new and proposed hydroelectric projects in the Himalayan State. thehindu.com/news/national/s…

What’s happening in Nepal is a trans-Himalayan crisis. And it’s only going to get worse. I was in Kalimpong when the 2023 Sikkim GLOF tore down the Teesta, destroying a 1,200MW dam and hundreds. The Himalaya is one connected system. Our response isn’t. rfa.org/english/news/environ…

Follow Anup for more.
We have more than 100 journalists from Kathmandu Post, Kantipur Daily, and Kantipur TV entirely focused on covering the devastating floods and their impact in Nepal. Reporters who left Kathmandu 72 hours ago and hiked on foot to reach settlements that are hardest hit. A team of breaking news reporters working round the clock. Editors synthesizing information from dozens of districts to build a coherent, accurate picture as it changes hour by hour. Photographers and camera crews documenting loss that words alone can't capture. Some of our own journalists have been personally affected — reporting on their neighbors, their districts, sometimes their own families, while doing their jobs. This is what it takes to cover a disaster like this responsibly: people on the ground, verifying, asking hard questions, and staying long after the story stops trending. This week, we did something we've never done before: ask readers to start paying for stories they read. If you've found our coverage useful these past days, consider subscribing — it directly funds the reporters, photographers, and editors who are doing this work, and helps us keep doing it for the stories that come after this one. payments.ekantipur.com

Dear Ms Hooker, perhaps keep the 500K. You’ll need it for border protection & other priorities. After all, Nepalis already give you over a million in US visa application fees every month, including for the privilege of being rejected two thirds of the time. Kindly.
I spoke with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Khanal this morning about their search-and-rescue efforts, including the urgent efforts to locate our missing citizens. The @StateDept is quickly deploying $500,000 in assistance to flood-affected communities while @USEmbassyNepal is coordinating with local authorities on efforts to assist U.S. nationals. The United States stands with the people of Nepal during this difficult time and will continue to support relief and recovery efforts.
