“while in F1, or rather, at ferrari, i've always struggled”
we never forget his wet quali in that sauber
some really good news from charles:
"knowing I had a 10-place penalty, i decided to be much more aggressive in the directions i was going in during qualifying, working on the wing and the various steering tools.
it's an experiment that will pay off, because i've been at ferrari for nine years, and i have to tell the truth: i've never had the feeling i had in the lower categories. in the lower categories, wet conditions were perhaps my absolute strength, while in F1, or rather, at ferrari, i've always struggled. we still have to find the right balance, but today is a positive day because we tried so many things.
in certain moments of qualifying, in conditions where there's usually no feeling with this car, the feeling was very good."

Yikes! That was terrible. I was expecting #Mercedes to have the most room for error given the strengths of their PU, but thought #Ferrari can give them a fight at least in quali if they optimised their setup. But #Ferrari seems to have come with a really bad deployment + energy recovery setup. And even #Leclerc needs to change how he is approaching some of the corners.
In my preview, I was advocating for #Ferrari to use sector 2 for energy recovery so that they can dump it on the straight after T12 but they are deploying more than others in sector 2!! See the below battery SOC from @f1insightshub to get a sense of directionality even if it may not be accurate. They really need to change their recovery/deployment strategy overnight. I still think the best approach is to maximise deployment in the early part of the lap until T4 entry and then focus on energy recovery till T12. We can also take inspiration from the #McLarenF1 setup and do a bit of recovery between T5 and T6 like they are doing.
I really hope they optimise the setup because #Leclerc just ran out of battery so quickly on the final stretch after T12. Also, I think LEC needs to change his approach to some corners - especially T4 and T12. He needs to brake late in T4 (carry more speed on entry) and then not be so quick to get back on full throttle (need to focus energy recovery from T4 exit onwards). At T12, braking a bit early, carrying a higher apex speed and delaying full throttle slightly may be faster overall. In his fastest lap in FP2, Charles was quick to get on full throttle after T12, but what’s the point of that. The battery is anyways going to get fully discharged before you finish the lap - might as well utilise it in a way that yields the most lap time!
McL looks to be running a higher engine mode and I really hope that we are either running a very low engine mode or are on an earlier spec because engine performance also looks bad! If #Ferrari can get the setup right for tomorrow, then we can be the 2nd force after Mercedes.

Interlagos typically offers a great race so let’s see what this year has in store for us. Thanks to @brakeboosted for the quali sim. I think #Ferrari is in with a good chance for pole/front row in quali. Short lap with the main battery deployment at the end of quali lap from T12 onwards reduces the advantage that #Mercedes typically has of harvesting energy efficiently while super clipping. Need to optimise the 6.5 MJ energy recovery over the lap to exit T12 with the battery as close to 4 MJ as possible. Given the straight between T3 and T4 comes early, Ferrari can rely on battery deployment to keep up with others here and our chassis should help with making a difference in sector 2.
The race however will be very tricky. You can’t run deployment this aggressively and this is where the #Mercedes PU efficiency makes them the favourite in my opinion. But Russell has a 5-place grid penalty for the race so that’s helpful (and hoping Kimi takes it easy after winning the championship 😜).
#Leclerc has always been strong here but the results don’t reflect that. Hoping that changes this year. Congratulations to @Charles_Leclerc on becoming a Dad!! Now it’s time to do the talking on the track!

"Definitely the most special thing ever, and, you kind of expected, because I've always wanted to be a young dad, and obviously, with Alex, we felt like it was the right time, it's a very, very special moment. And definitely, yeah, a week I'll forever remember for all the positive reasons, then, of course, there's been other things going on as well, but for me this week was all about Bianca, and it’s been incredible."

I mean, if you keep having to rely on Leclerc to get the car set up (it's far outside its operating window rn), then maybe, just maybe, you should also be listening to him on development. Just a thought.
This ferrari civil war:
🔴 The meeting between Charles, Fred and Lewis lasted more than an hour. The team principal reiterated that the brand is bigger than both of them. No further battles will be tolerated if they put the team’s result at risk. Ferrari was not happy with Lewis’ constant controversy.
Words (from LH) that came after his heated reaction immediately after the race and his social media post ("We have to be honest"), which Leclerc somehow accepted more readily than Ferrari did. The team was irritated by the tone, but above all by Lewis's insistence.
Vasseur repeated the same message to both of them: Ferrari is bigger than any driver. What happened in Mexico (and, we would add, all the controversy that followed) was an enormous lack of respect towards everyone working in Maranello. And towards the sponsors, which is no minor detail.
Will this be enough to restore peace? We have our doubts. Hamilton, spotted in the paddock this morning, did not look particularly convinced by the outcome of the meeting. After all, his demands, to be recognised as the team's leader and, consequently, the number 1 driver, are unlikely to be heard.
This is also due to contractual reasons, as Vasseur himself explained after Monza: "We chose to have two equal drivers," the team principal said back in September. "It's written into their contracts. Lewis has known that ever since he signed."

If I was Charles, and Ferrari did this, I'd take the first opportunity going at any rival team. This is a situation entirely of Ferrari's own making.
If there was faith Leclerc could deliver a title, Hamilton was not needed, and only creates the upset that's happening now. #F1 – at Carlow, Ireland
Here is where I stand on the Lewis v Charles debate, and I made this point in my commentary on @5liveSport on Sunday in Mexico; make Lewis #1 Ferrari driver. Sort it out. Make it clear. Ends all debate. Lewis will deliver for Ferrari. If they back him 100%

Qualifying simulation #BrazilGP 🇧🇷
lap stats:
time - 1:09.378
distance-driven - 4214 m
power-limited distance - 2415 m
grip-limited distance - 1800 m
(sector times look wrong, needs fixing)
driver phases:
full throttle - 59.7%
braking - 14.4%
part throttle - 22.7%
neutral - 3.2%
energy strategy:
overrun - 4.08 MJ
part throttle - 1.82 MJ
superclip - 0.69 MJ
recovered - 6.6 MJ (8 MJ limit never binds)
fuel spent - 45.21 MJ (1.103 kg)
lap time sensitivity:
power +10 kW - 0.141 s
downforce + 1% - 0.078 s
drag -1% - 0.052 s
softer compound range than in 2025 which also had less than optimal conditions where no one could get the tyre working optimally, hence the quicker lap. 2024 Sprint pole 1:08:8.
I expect my simulation to fall on the quicker side due to recent aero ride height map changes, and what I think is a non laser-scanned track surface.

Hamilton was asked whether he feels Leclerc races him more aggressively than other drivers, with the question referencing the Monegasque's approach when battling Max Verstappen in Singapore.
Lewis : « Yes. »
When pressed to elaborate, Hamilton refused to go into further detail:
LH: « I can't say more. If you look at the teammates, it's the same with Sebastian. It's the same with Carlos.
He's been here a long time. He's at eight years. Nine wins in the team. He's very much embedded within the team, and I knew that it would always be a challenge. I've always respected that, and I've approached the team. I've really worked hard to build a good relationship with Charles and bridge the gap and make sure that we're harmonious and we work hard together. Always try to be respectful.
Naturally, it's not so easy having someone like me come into a team because I'm very outspoken, and I push and push and push and push for so many changes. »

Sir Lewis Hamilton broke many Ferrari records in his first year. But judging by his steady stream of downright petty and disrespectful remarks about his teammate, he’s aiming for another one in 2026. He wants to go down in history as the Ferrari driver most despised by the tifosi
