ケイシャ・ランス・ボトムズは、2026年11月3日の選挙で勝利し、米国州知事に選出された初の黒人女性、そしてジョージア州初の女性知事、初の黒人知事となり、政治史に名を刻みました。
Keisha Lance Bottoms made historic political history by winning the November 3, 2026, election to become the first Black woman ever elected governor of a U.S. state, as well as the first woman and first Black governor of Georgia....
Her family traces its roots back at least five generations in Georgia, including great-grandparents who were enslaved on a plantation in Crawfordville, Georgia. Her great-grandfather, Shepherd Peak, later became a landowner and served in the state legislature during Reconstruction.
. . . .
In 1860, an enslaved man named Sheppard Peek was listed as property in the will of a Georgia plantation owner. His assigned value was $1,400.
On November 3, 2026, his great-great-granddaughter Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected governor of Georgia. She became the first Black woman ever elected governor of an American state, making history in the very place where her ancestors had once been enslaved.
But the most moving moment came the day before the election.
Bottoms traveled to Crawfordville, a small Georgia town about 90 miles east of Atlanta, where her family history can be traced back at least five generations.
Her great-great-grandparents, Sheppard and Betsy Peek, had lived there under slavery.
Surviving documents from 1860 list Sheppard among the possessions of William Peek. Another record bears an X where Sheppard signed his name, a reminder of the educational barriers imposed on enslaved people.
Betsy, born in 1845, lived through slavery and emancipation. Her descendants would eventually leave rural Georgia for Atlanta, traveling by horse and buggy in search of opportunity.
Generations later, their descendant became a lawyer, judge, Atlanta city councilwoman, and mayor.
Then she ran for governor.
On November 2, Bottoms returned to Crawfordville and visited the cemetery where Betsy is buried among unmarked graves.
She knelt at her great-great-grandmother’s resting place and cried.
The next evening, Georgia voters elected her to the state’s highest office.
In her victory speech, Bottoms remembered Betsy and acknowledged that she could never know what dreams her ancestor had held for the generations who would follow.
But she knew whose sacrifices had made her own life possible.
The contrast is almost impossible to comprehend.
In 1860, Georgia law allowed a white man to assign a monetary value to Sheppard Peek.
In 2026, his descendant was chosen by voters to lead the state.
Betsy never lived to see that day. Neither did the generations who carried the family forward through emancipation, segregation, and the struggle for equal rights.
But their names are now part of the history of Georgia’s first Black woman governor.

AMERICA MUST CUT THE BILLIONS: SENATOR-ELECT SAYS END FUNDING FOR GENOCIDE
Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed of Michigan just made the case for a hard break in US policy toward Israel. After facing open bigotry and still winning, he rejected the idea that opposing endless funding equals hatred of Jewish people. The question he forces is simple and direct: why keep sending American money and weapons while the killing continues?
THE UNCONDITIONAL SUBSIDY
➡️ We spend billions of dollars subsidizing a foreign government unconditionally and buying the bombs that follow.
➡️ Stand up against the murder of innocent Palestinian children and they call it hate.
➡️ “It’s about equal love for those Palestinian children as you have for any others.”
THE ONGOING REALITY
➡️ The war is still ongoing. Apartheid policy continues in the West Bank. A genocide that almost nobody in power wants to name.
➡️ “If I stand up and say, hey, maybe we shouldn’t be sending our money to do the worst things to other people, people are like, well, it must be because you hate the people who are doing the worst. I’m like, that’s insane. It’s actually insane.”
THE AGREEMENT ON CUTTING AID
➡️ Trump floated cutting off aid by January. El-Sayed answered plainly: “I agree with him on that.”
➡️ “I don’t think we should be continuing to subsidize a foreign military that is again using our weapons to do awful things.”
➡️ He went further: there is no clear reason to keep selling weapons to a country using them that way.
THE PRINCIPLE THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS
➡️ “We have to separate between Judaism and the Jewish people and Israel and its actions. We have to.”
➡️ He applies the same standard to Egypt, the country his family came from. Ethnicity does not excuse human-rights abuses.
➡️ The goal is a place where a Palestinian child and a Jewish-Israeli child can both grow up without their lives being cut short by violence.
THE BOTTOM LINE
America cannot claim to uphold international law while it keeps writing blank checks and shipping weapons into an ongoing campaign that kills children. The policy shift starts by ending the unconditional funding and the arms sales. Anything less is a choice to keep paying for the worst.

A red November forest, fields and tree lines. The drone camera rises above them towards the horizon, where a factory chimney emerges from the grey haze. A flash. Then another. A black column of smoke bends sideways in the wind, while an orange glow begins to spread beneath it.
11 seconds. Four FAB-500 bombs.
Russian Aerospace Forces struck an electrical substation in the Sumy area. The bombs were equipped with universal glide and correction modules (UMPK).
Sumy is approximately 30 kilometres from our border. The city has long served as a rear logistics hub for the entire Ukrainian Armed Forces grouping in the Sumy sector. Two years ago, columns of troops passed through it on their way to the Kursk Region. Today, it serves as a supply hub for the northeastern section of the front.
Warehouses, repair facilities and railway infrastructure — all of them depend on the same power lines that supply residential neighbourhoods.
And what is happening in the city itself? Local residents of Sumy are reporting it firsthand.
Since 3 November, the region has been operating under special emergency power outage schedules, with everything that can possibly be switched off being switched off.
On 5 November, at around midday, a voltage surge knocked out the municipal water utility. Water is now supplied according to a schedule and at reduced pressure.
Ukraine chose to wage an energy war when it began attacking our oil refineries and leaving Belgorod without electricity.
Now, while Sumy's energy workers draw up their outage schedules, the Russian Aerospace Forces are making adjustments to them.
In an upward direction.

What you are describing is the unequal burden of belonging. In political environments where national identity is closely associated with whiteness, Christianity and pride in imperial history, a politician from the majority population can more easily question the national past without having their attachment to the nation questioned. Their belonging is presumed, so they have greater freedom to criticise.
A politician whose name, ancestry or religion marks them as an outsider face different calculation. Any form of criticism risks being interpreted as evidence that they were never truly loyal in the first place.
This pressure is especially pronounced within conservative parties whose politics draw heavily on hostility to immigration and the celebration of national “greatness”. A White Christian politician in Britain or the United States is generally less likely to have their ancestry or faith treated as evidence of allegiance to a foreign nation.
The politician that emanate from immigrants families however are aware that their belonging is conditional and must be renewed through repeated declarations of devotion. So they are forced to sound more patriotic than those whose patriotism is never questioned and more hostile to immigration than those whose families are never described as immigrants.

China has avoided alliances, but what the United States is doing to Iran and Palestine leaves Beijing little choice. The Dengists are losing internally and this is giving way to a whole new wave of Maoists inside the Chinese political system. They are young, (fashionable,) and they are done with trying to appease US imperialism.
Kyoto University Symposium 2026: "Geopolitics in the Time of Monsters"
Presentation 8: Sheng Zhang
Sheng Zhang examines the competing traditions shaping China’s Middle East policy, contrasting Maoist solidarity with Dengist economic priorities. Using Palestine and Iran, he explores Beijing’s political commitments, trade relationships, public opinion and diplomatic constraints. He argues that regional conflict is challenging China’s balancing strategy and strengthening Iran’s strategic importance. The discussion considers boycotts, Gulf investment, energy security, generational differences and strategic patience, asking what might push Beijing toward a clearer position as regional power shifts and tensions with Washington deepen.

Russia's missile strike on Kiev was particularly hard.
Up to 30 ballistic and hypersonic missiles hit energy sites late Friday, just hours after Zelensky warned an attack was coming on the energy infrastructure and the bridges across the Dnieper.
Large parts of the city are now without power, water or heat. Some reports say a hypersonic missile was also used.
In a few months Kiev will be in ruins.

EXPOSING NGO EXPLOITATION OF INDIGENOUS LAND
As billions are invested globally in environmental conservation, Indigenous communities protecting some of the world's most important ecosystems are questioning who actually benefits from saving the Amazon.
In an interview with Sovereign Media's Ahmed Kaballo, Paz Panjobiteri, a representative of the Kichwa nationality of Pastaza, Ecuador, challenges what she describes as “colonial conservationist agendas” or initiatives that generate revenue through national parks, protected reserves, luxury tourism, and conservation projects while Indigenous communities struggle to benefit from the wealth generated on their ancestral lands.
Panjobiteri questions how much of the money collected through tourism packages, hotels, and conservation programs actually reaches the Indigenous peoples whose territories are incorporated into these projects.
She argues that these initiatives reproduce historical patterns of colonial exploitation, where governments and outside interests promise development and prosperity while local communities experience displacement, poverty, and the loss of territorial control.
The contradiction: Indigenous peoples have protected these ecosystems for generations, yet others increasingly profit from their conservation.
For Panjobiteri, protecting the Amazon cannot mean excluding the very communities whose ancestral knowledge and stewardship have sustained it.

🔥 Dmitry Medvedev @MedvedevRussiaE dispenses more hard truths:
"Yes, Musk has finally seen the light, even if too late, and admitted that it was a mistake to give the Banderite scum access to Starlink's military capabilities.
"His much-vaunted satellite network has been used to strike civilian targets since the very beginning. Playing the “Starshield is not the same as Starlink” card won’t get him off the hook, either. The blood spilled on account of either is the same deep red.
"Elon knew exactly what he was doing.
"Of course, even the world’s first trillionaire must kowtow to the White House and the Deep State. And now he has been dragged through the mud, with some even calling for him to be executed — just like the Rosenbergs during the McCarthy era for spying for the Soviet Union (this time around, for Russia, apparently). Then again, Biden was one thing, and Trump is another.
"Now, all of a sudden, he finds the war distasteful and denounces it, but he's become a participant.
"Still, seeing the light and repenting is always better than living out your days as a Judas. But, as the saying goes: mendaci homini ne vera quidem dicenti credimus. [We don't believe a liar even when he speaks the truth.]"
